This isn’t specific to BOLT 12 and is really stretching the line on accuracy.
Yes, if you reuse a BOLT 12 across two companies they can compare notes and see that you used the same one (duh!), but it’s not “because you reuse the same public key”, it’s because it’s the same thing!
But, of course, you don’t *have * to do this. Wallets, by default, should generate a fresh BOLT 12 every time they display the receive key (and LDK will every time the wallet asks for a BOLT 12), including fetching a different “offer_issuer_id”.
Ultimately, don’t assume things just based on the name of a field in a spec - the “offer_issuer_id” is a misnomer, LDK actually has a different name for it because of this, and IIRC the spec even says don’t reuse it if you’re a regular end-user wallet! nostr:note197dwq5alqrxcyjvjk9yds63pzj07a2t83tjacxzdp53uux73t5hsdtuk8f

Interestingly, all verification is irrelevant unless you don't wish to be anonymous and you verify yourself.
A bluecheck mark on Xitter means you're paying $10 a month to help Elons finances.
A NOSTR verification on a public server means you've paid a few sats to create a nostr.json file on their server with your npub on it.
If you want to truly verify who you are as a real human, you need to create this on your own website under your own domain.

This is just my opinion and all but I think some developers make a great product and then ruin it by adding more features.
My guess is they build the first or some follow up variant that is great, but fail to do any marketing for it and feel like they should keep adding stuff because surely that’s what people want. But, it’s not.
There’s a lot of value in creating something with very defined scope because people “get it”. But once you start adding some other major parts to the app, it becomes less clear what it is. This makes marketing even harder than when you had a more modest version.
It’s really easy to fall into the trap of build more stuff, but the best thing to do is to either focus on marketing and spend your restless coding syndrome on other side projects.

It is a feature because we run on relays and while you know who you’re following from your relay stats, you can’t tell who’s following you without examining every relay, which is impossible.
If you create an npub, never publish anything but follow some people you’re interested in, nobody will ever know.
This is a great privacy feature.

So no, I still don’t get it.
I’m going to ignore insolvency possibilities and accept the unsecured debt statement for the moment, but f you keep issuing shares, then your price exposure gets worse and it ends up being valueless. While NGU, great, but when it goes down, instead of making less profit, you make a loss and the company tanks.
We already saw a few quarters where $MSTR didn’t make a profit, because profit in a company is measured quarter by quarter and year by year and is dependent on growth.
Bitcoins profits are not dependent on growth. The Bitcoin I bought for $600 really doesn’t care whether the price is $50K or $100K, but if I put it in the form of a companies stock, then if the price goes from $100K to $50K, then I’ve made massive losses that period, even though I haven’t.
I get the argument that if you can’t buy BTC any other way then $STR gives you access to it, but your sharing your Bitcoin holdings with an ever increasing number of shareholders.
It’s behaving exactly like the government money printer we were supposed to be fixing.

Nip5 only works if everyone knows which domain you use as an identifier. This is a poor way to verify as there are many legit domains that may sound like the correct identifier - very prone to scams.
