I used Brave and Firefox side by side watching the traffic with portmaster. Firefox frequently phoned home to different sites while brave was silent. Both browsers had maximum privacy settings enabled and no extensions.

Gave up. It's too early yet. Each app has to download the model for itself. It's not a good use of 2GB per app.
Hopefully somebody will create apps to just offer models that the user likes to use and already has them downloaded.
