I didn't want to argue either, just wondering your viewpoint about how amount of zaps could inspire community involvement, how they could be a new signal for that. My inspiration for this note is to gamify people finding into finding & building community & connections, rather than building a big follower count 👍
I think it is already well used, with bots dedicated to showing big zaps, sites that show zap totals & amounts like nostr.build & zaplife.lol and zaps being shown on notes and comments. If you have new ideas it would be great to share them though!

Some people love to play the tough guy on social media, hiding behind a fake name and acting all combative, especially here on Nostr. You can toss that nonsense out the window. What we really need aren’t these fake displays of masculinity from attention-seeking, late-blooming kids who are out of touch with reality, but real strategies and tactics for dealing with the world as it is—no matter how limiting it might be.
Anyone can beat their chest like King Kong and shout. Even my 7-year-old can do that. But real men stand out from little boys by navigating the harsh realities of life without cowardly hiding behind fake identities.

What a lot of website operators, even those based outside the Eurozone, don’t realize is that as soon as they offer their products or services to European customers, they fall under European data protection laws (GDPR). The GDPR, with all its details (like a complete privacy policy, cookie consent banner, imprint, etc.), becomes mandatory for them as soon as their website reaches European customers. If they want to avoid this, they would need to actively use technical measures to block Europeans from accessing their website.
I’m not a lawyer and can’t provide specific details, but as far as I understand this issue, negative consequences can hit them as soon as someone is willing to go through the whole bureaucratic process. And that process exists if you ask AI. Just being on the other side of the pond doesn’t automatically protect you from it.

The difficulty is dynamically set by the network every 2 weeks such that it targets a block every 10 minutes, but because of the completely random nature or proof of work, sometimes we get blocks flowing immediately after one another, and other times we get almost a 60 minute gap between blocks.
If the average time between blocks for a given 2 week mining epoch < 10 minutes, difficulty increases. If the average > 10 minutes, difficulty decreases. Essentially the network is constantly in search oof equilibrium.

No, I don't believe chaos exists. There is wilderness, beautifully wild, untamed and untapped, to which we bring a cultivating order and bring out its latent wonders. There is a kind of order we bring--which is good and beautifil in its way--but there is a deeper order in all of life. Think of the way cells move, communicate, multiply, build themselves up into whatever part they're supposed to play. Think of the symmetry embedded in a seed that bursts into the perfectly layered geometry of the blossom in full. Think of the 'dance' of Venus' orbit in relation to our Earth. Or the mathematically precise unfolding layers of a conche.
Our order is beautiful, but it is blocks and curves and perhaps at best, algorithmic patterns attempting to mirror the deeper order in creation (but we are no match). Ours is good, but child-like in comparison.

I ask myself more if centralization is even a problem. I like Erick Voskuils logic, if miners start censoring transactions they are leaving money on the table (transaction fees), encouraging someone in a xyz country to spin up a mining operation and mine those transactions. So in the long term I believe there is a genious self balancing mechanism at play here. Its just theory though, we didn't see a proper attack yet. At the same time, why would miners (even if heavily centralized) hurt their investment by hurting bitcoin in any way (censoring, printing more...et)...

I think its wishful thinking. It will be always more efficient (cheaper) to design a device that has loud fans, big power supplies...etc Also you can't heat your house all the time. Even if it catches on, the home miners will quickly become unprofitable while the industrial miners upgrade their equipement...
