The kid asked to help cook today, we made a chicken shawarma salad. He mixed up the marinade for the chicken, made the dressing, chopped the onion and cucumber, threw the chicken in the skillet, and assembled the salads.
The dressing had tahini in it, the kid said it tasted nutty and then started calling it nut water 😂 I somehow didn't laugh. I corrected him and told him it was sesame seeds and it was oil from the sesame seeds not water, he says so it's a seed oil 🤨. It was a good cooking lesson with no drama or bleeding, and the salad was yummy. #momstr #kidstr #kidssaythedarndestthings

These are good points. Monero is kind of fascinating to me as a concept, primarily because people use it because they *need* to, more than because they *want* to. People get into Bitcoin for all sorts of reasons, many of them voluntary (and related to number-go-up). On the other hand, while there are of course privacy advocates and others who are ideologically attracted to Monero (and I respect that), I have to assume that most users choose it because they require a high level of privacy in order to avoid government persecution and/or violence.
This means they’re presumably a lot less sensitive to price when compared to anyone who “invests” in Bitcoin. Yes if Monero “goes to zero” then you’d have a hard time valuing it or exchanging it for goods and services, but by that same token (no pun intended) it likely has a much larger percentage of users/holders who transact with it, compared to the percentage of Bitcoin-holders who *only* hold.
Of course some price manipulation could happen, and I have no way to know what percentage of Monero is held by active spenders compared to investors/traders, but I’d guess it’s not insignificant.
It’s an interesting thought experiment. If the above is accurate, it would require someone manipulating the price so high that enough users sell their stacks, at which point it kind of defeats the purpose, if they’re all waiting to buy back in when the price is manipulated lower. Don’t underestimate the anarchists, I guess.
Or maybe none of that is right! But it’s an interesting thought experiment…

Two years ago, Maya invited me to join Daedalus Labs as UX lead: a role I proudly took on. Since then, we’ve worked closely on building a bold Bitcoin vision for Suriname. It wasn’t easy. Building a startup never is, let alone one challenging systemic corruption.

Along the way, we became friends. We’ve had highs and lows, in business and life. It’s no secret that she’s going through a difficult time now. I believe it’s rooted in a heavy cocktail of postpartum challenges, chronic stress, trauma, and sleep deprivation. It’s painful to witness. And yes, it can lead to erratic behavior and damaged trust.
But let’s not pretend we know everything. The situation in Suriname is complex, and so is the position Maya put herself in. She made herself a target, not for ego, but for the hope of change. That takes guts.
Still, mistakes were made. Wrong people trusted. Hard truths said at the wrong time. I hope she takes time off now, to heal, to breathe, to gain clarity. Whether she returns to the public stage or not is her decision.
What we can do as a community is this:
Hold space. Show compassion. Stay critical without turning cold.
Because Maya is not a scammer. She never enriched herself. She’s one of the most selfless people I’ve met. And like any strong spirit, she’s still human, flawed, overwhelmed, and in need of support.
I stand with her, in truth, not blind loyalty. And I hope more people choose empathy over easy judgment.

If you just want to have a relay for backing up your notes that is not accessible to anyone else for read or write access, you can just run the Nostr RS Relay that is in the Umbrel app store.

Issue getting SMB (Mac) to connect to nas (local) via vlan.
Upon connecting it sees the folders on NAS to connect but it throughs an error.
Checked firewall rules.
Any suggestions or ideas?
