One can usually deduce what needs addressing with less error and physical degradation than feelings of shame would incur, though the feelings are there as a backup which serve their best function when a person goes very far off base.

It's sad but true, most don't care. I don't think that should be a reason not to pursue the goal of privacy. Ultimately, the money changers would do anything they can to prevent it, as it is the very opposite of what they would like to have as a system.
At the moment, Bitcoin is lining up somewhere in-between, and has been shifting further away from its initial intent. In a digital age with cbdcs looming, being able to protect out wealth as well as our privacy and autonomy are all equally important to me. I don't care to be rich if my freedom is severely impacted.
