When will lonely, elderly people start to talk to LLMs on a massive scale? Is this already happening?
It can be extremely tiring to listen to stories of mildly demented people who struggle to string thoughts together and they don't want to be a burden neither but they want to talk more than others around might have time to listen.
I'm reluctant to put these thoughts out as I might come across as being cruel but I think, some would flourish with such an AI companion that never gets tired listening to their stories, especially if it was tasked to do something with the information collected. Not "Grandma, talk to the bot, please. I have to work" but "Grandma, I'd love to have a book written about your exciting life!"

Aurora and Fdroid are garbage; used them for years for little gain. Couldn't do it anymore.
Using Google Play Store in a sandbox is just as good. You can generate a random anon gmail in one click when you sign up. App updates work seamlessly. Never have a problem searching or staying logged in.
Google Play Services is a hard dependency for alot of every day apps.
Obtainium can get APKs directly from FDroid registry, but also from Git repos on Github/etc. It's minimal and straightforward, going *around* Fdroid as a choke point.
Long term, I'm excited for https://accrescent.app/ to mature as a true Play Store alternative that is just as safe and secure, but also open and private.

Yes, I get your point. We're all shaped by our environment. But that's ok, there's no "view from nowhere" that sets us ethically above everyone else. We do our best with what we're given.
But I disagree about Odin. I don't have to adopt the frame of the original adherents in order to evaluate claims of historicity. Odin wasn't a person (at least we have no evidence that he was). There is plenty of documentation about Jesus and the early Church (even if you reject their claims). Odin also doesn't solve any of the many philosophical problems that existence presents. He's just another version of infinite regress (although the idea of a personal god obviously has elements of truth compared with Christianity).

I assume you are using good relays. Most users have accepted whatever their first client has offered and many clients used to randomize relays from nostr.watch to try to decentralize the network from the bigger ones. When people don't know which relays they use, things can be quite slow.
