Yeah, it definitely has the best cross platform onboarding experience.
Completely understand your point, but didn't want to dive too deeply into relays in this part of the site. The main aim is getting people off zero. I'll be doing many more intermediate and advanced stuff where we talk about relay selection etc.

Today was a good day, got some sun and played with some yarn. Had a picnic lunch in the driveway...
Made ranch dressing for the kid this evening and he ate a big salad with some chicken and wanted to eat more dressing by itself 😂. It's so rewarding when a kid really enjoys something you made just for them. #kidstr #momstr

I (somewhat) get the fear of Russia influence but let's compare the facts.
For past twenty years or so, what Russia achieved here? Blown up some ammunition storage and prevented building of US base?
EU is working continuously to destroy sovereignty of it's nations, destroying free market. Recently they very much supported medical tyranny and of course don't forget effortless work on destroying of all the industry and finance.
Sure Russia is using EU's ideas to their advantage but without EU (and US to be precise) idiotic ideas like Green deal, DEI and other shit they would have much less ammo.

Hear me out, I know you put Mastodon, Threads, and Tumblr on this list and described them separately but they are all federated using a protocol called ActivityPub. There's plenty of other server softwares out there that also implement this protocol (Such as Pleroma, Misskey, Soapbox, Peertube, WriteFreely, Pixelfed, Honk, etc). Each has different settings and defaults. Mastodon actually is somewhat notorious for having such opinionated defaults, like 500 characters in a single post, which is not present on other server softwares it can federate with. Same with rich text and other features it is lacking. You mentioned you couldn't find anything but serious discussion on there, which makes me think you may have tried it out on a bad server.
