I think zero is pretty close to accurate in terms of career.
When I meet someone for the first time and they ask “So…what do you do?” as their opener: the conversation is already over in my head and I’m looking for the exits. Looking to get back to spending my time with the people I care about most.

yay, the new pubkey index compression scheme i have built is now in testing phase, should be a few more hours and i'll have it committed and going live on wss://mleku.realy.lol
this is a hella compression algorithm for saving resources for handling nostr follow/mute events, it will achieve savings of between 75-87.5% of the storage cost of pubkeys in the database meaning the relay can provide a LOT more usable data about social graph and will effectively enable a fairly precise census of nostr users in combination with a network spider
i was at first only going to apply it to these hefty events but then i realised it's probably no less performant to use it on all event kinds which will shave another 24-72 bytes off typical kind 1 events, for instance, which is somewhere around 15% improvement in storage
just gotta trawl through some stack traces to figure out where i have forgot to allocate memory and check bounds and it will be ready

Bitcoin changed my view on this.
Before Bitcoin I never wanted to have children because I thought the world was a corrupt, evil place and I wanted to have my own place and a steady income before thinking on having kids.
(having not finished my school and working minimum wage made this seem impossible)

I have a GL.INET MT-3000 router that runs OpenWrt 21. I have added a loopback/hairpin NAT rule that forwards a fixed ip (198.168.21.21:2121) to a service running on the router port 3334. That works.
However, I when i add OpenNDS (captive portal package) I want to also allow this IP for preauthenticated users. The weird thing is that with the manufacturer's version of OpenWRT i can't get it to work, but when using a vanilla (OpenWRT 23.x) it does work. I can't figure out where the difference is and how to fix it.

I almost wish that our Lord and Savior's short period of mortality had taken place after the invention of the automobile because a substantial part of good driving involves practicing the Golden Rule and humanity could use some modern examples.
I can sympathize with the guy behind me whose specific serving of today's sh!t-sandwich leads him to view his time as being more valuable than anyone else's. Likewise, I also sympathize with the poor sap who sold his soul to a bank for a home mere feet from a quiet residential street which has now become a major thoroughfare to the new Walmart.
If I as an adult express reservations about cycling or walking the streets of my community for fear of being turned into a hood ornament by an opioid addict or distracted driver, I've probably forfeited at least some of my right to complain that "kids today spend all of their time staring at screens instead of going outside."
One thing I have noticed over the years is that my county seems to lose more of its passing zones with every refresh of its yellow pavement lines. These things were everywhere when I was a kid. Even where they didn't exist, adults knew how/when to safely pass (or overtake) in a no-passing zone and weren't afraid to do so. Today, one needs to slow to 10 MPH, activate his flashers and deploy a smoke grenade before the guy behind him will work up the courage to just go around.

also yes, when i get to ackchually being paid for the task, i'll make a lot more effort
like, even at my current paid job, there's such a small amount of tasks in it that have moderately long times to pass each one i'm hardly even noting what i'm doing
it's a matching engine, and i think there is a slim chance they will be persuaded that i will also build a queue/proxy/cache for their front end so they can stop having 5 second long confirmation waits and push that onto their proxy cluster... and for that i need to also have some kind of distributed database to store the query cache in so it can save on calls to the - eventually expensive, if big userbase - gateway API calls
that's the thing, i know the layout of the architecture better than most of them do, so i just focus on where i am digging for now but i only have to pause a few minutes and i'll vomit out a whole architectural work order plan
