GitHub-Hosted Malware Infects 1M Windows Users

A broad malvertising campaign used a combination of illegal streaming websites and GitHub to impact nearly 1 million Windows PCs with data-stealing malware. The campaign, identified by Microsoft, targeted both consumer and enterprise devices across a wide range of industries and organizations.
Microsoft Threat Intelligence (MTI) in December detected the attack, originated from illegal streaming websites embedded with malvertising redirectors. This led victims to an intermediary website — such as a malware or tech-support scam website — where they were then redirected primarily to GitHub, which attackers used to host the malware. Microsoft also found one payload hosted on Discord and another on Dropbox.

Vitor, please fix Amethyst to write and fetch notes from inbox / Outbox / DMs. Then Nostr will never be down for real. We need just one client to implement this properly. A single client is all I'm asking for. It has to be Amethyst mate. Please go for it :).

The Internet has centralized pretty heavily at multiple points in the stack.
Outages with edge providers (Google/Cloudflare) or cloud compute (Amazon/AWS) tend to bring down half the internet.
Data and archives that were only recently considered a permanent part of the Internet are being cleansed and erased from the public domain.
#Nostr is a needed reset to salvage what was good and empowering about the Internet.

I find it works well for what it is. I was using it before Fishcake fixed it (on iOS 17). It broke on the iOS 18 beta. And then also after fishcake fixed it(for iOS 18 I mean)
Not the same as Amber for sure but it’s a solution for iOS

It's about economies of scale too. You can't expect people here to pay for everything. They'll go broke. We need more liquidity. We need more users to help pay creators.
We have zapped a lot of bitcoin over the past two years, but if you look at the stats, you'll see that people zapping really hasn't grown all that much to keep up with user growth and zap growth.

Any time I post something like this about zaps, I get a few comments from people who misinterpret it and accuse me of complaining that I’m not getting zapped enough. Maybe they just want to argue, or maybe they’re not getting laid at home and have some pent up energy to vent. Idk. This post is an observation about the general “zap economy.” Whatever delusions anyone wants to believe, the current way most people zap on nostr is not going attract any quality artists/creators to stick around long. You may not like it, but deal with it. Zap more.

Damus and Primal are similar in UI and UX, do function well now, and have unique features that can't be found elsewhere. I'd like to believe it's just a matter of people trying these apps out again and seeing how much they have improved over the last two years.
Primal for example, should really hit home how powerful it can be to fully control and setup your various feeds from the marketplace. In app breadcrumbs should walk users through all of this for the very first time.
Damus should change their hashtag suggestions around to make Nostr look like it's dead and no one is using it, perhaps focus on content discovery and user discovery more.
I think all apps need to handle posting images and videos better.
