以国力而论，俄罗斯、中共国目前都配不上做美国的敌人。就算整个欧洲能在危机面前团结起来，想对抗今天的美国仍力有不逮。
但当美国的敌人是她自己，是她自己坚持走了两百多年的道路，是她自己的路径依赖，这个“敌人”的份量就绝不容轻视。
所以，假如美国在川普和他的支持者齐心合力下真要走一条帝国之路，这条路绝不会一马平川。
骂川普是独裁者的人只是一时还没反应过来，还没意识到这是国家发展路线之争。
反对者们的批评至今仍是隔靴搔痒，他们对川普支持者的心理分析，仍停留在相当肤浅的层面。
他们没有意识到川普确实是“爱国者”，支持者们也确实是“爱国者”，只是这些人想要做的是用他们的爱把美国重塑成一个超强帝国，只是在这些人的观念中，超级帝国才是美国最理想的模样。
批评者们没有意识到，“爱国者”是一群可以为了理想牺牲个人利益的人，是不惜以身殉道的人。因此批评者一直低估了“爱国者”群体中蕴含的能量，低估了他们的执着。
批评者一直都没看清自己的对手，所以在与“爱国者”的论战中，他们占不到上风。
民众的同情会给“爱国者”，当然会给“爱国者”，因为他们真诚。也因为让美国成为超强帝国的愿景，在撕开暧昧的面纱前，对广大草根是那么有诱惑力，又是那么容易引发最普通的美国人的情感共鸣。
但图穷终将匕现。
让美国成为超强帝国，成为国上之国，成为旧时代世界观中最伟大的存在，“爱国者”们这个梦想的真实面貌总有一天会被所有人看见。
然后会有很多同样爱美国的人会问，“那样的美国还是美国吗？”
而这，是一个“真问题”。
而且这并不是一个单纯的理念之争。
在论战背后驱动人们奋战不休的是利益，是利益冲突，冲突的双方，是美国作为一个显性存在的国家的国家利益，和作为隐形存在的全球商业帝国首都所代表的全球商业帝国国家利益。
导致冲突发生的是美国自身的双重属性。
也是由美国引领发掘的那个庞大隐形存在，全球商业帝国，因自身的隐形存在状态而导致的难以完善自维持机制，难以在各属国属地之间进行利益协调的困境。
当一国首都和其他地区发生利益冲突，谁该是那个协调者？当北京市民抱怨外地进京车辆过多导致交通堵塞，谁有责任帮他们解决问题？
这责任、这权力，都归于国家级的治理者。
但全球商业帝国是个隐形存在，在政治上它一直群龙无首。
所以当全球商业帝国的利益，影响了美国作为一个国家的国家利益，或者用人们更熟悉的表达方式说，当美国的全球利益影响了本土利益，在二者之间，我们居然找不到可以进行调停的人。
问题出现了，却没人能解决，没办法解决，于是问题只好累积到形成危机。
美国影响力的全球扩张，美国利益的全球辐射，既是今日美国庞大国力的来源，也是今日美国全球利益与本土利益发生冲突的根由。
奇怪的是，似乎一直没有人把事情的脉络梳理清楚。
也就一直没有人把爱国者们让美国选择帝国道路的倾向，和他们对全球主义者的反感，归结到这个方面。
当你意识到“爱国者”是一群真诚期望美国“再次伟大”的人，一群不惜殉道也要让美国成为他们心目中的理想国也就是超强帝国的人，你就不会对他们在国际社会四处“退群”感到意外。
你也不会再对他们想要加拿大、想要格陵兰感到意外。
——毕竟帝国需要战略纵深。
从“美国优先”实际上是“美国本土利益优先”，是“美国的帝国道路优先”这个角度理解他们的所作作为，理解他们的热情，理解他们的无私，你会发现一切都顺理成章。
而美国培养出这样一批人，也实在不该让人感到意外。毕竟美国确实是一个国家，任何一个国家都会有无数只关注本土利益的人，这是正常的，这种心态甚至不该受到指责。
是美国自己的特殊性，她天生就附带的全球性，令拥有国际视野，不仅精英阶层还有每个手握选票的人拥有国际视野，成为让美国政治能兼顾本土利益和全球利益所必须。
也是美国道路的特殊性，令对她政治独特性的理解，成为维护美国政治存在的人口主体，美国公民的必修课。
在全球国家和本土国家双重属性之间保持暧昧不是没有后果的。
这后果已经以国家发展路线之争的形式呈现，已经在同样深爱美国的全球派和本土派之间发生。
今天的美国正站在前进道路的分岔口。
