The expensive coffee and all the expensive coffee making devices are all in pursuit of tasting the complex acidic fruity flavors of the source beans in a light roast. But if you like caramel, toffee, chocolate, vanilla, almond type flavors, these all come from the Maillard reaction during roasting and pretty much happen with any bean. So as long as you don't burn the roast (plenty do!) it doesn't matter which source beans you use, or which fancy equipment you use. Dark roasts in the realm of full city or vienna (not french/italian/spanish which is burnt) are "easy mode," don't require expensive beans or expensive equipment, and taste great.

Money’s primary purpose has always been to be able to hold the value of the entire society, and not break.
Literally every other thing we associate with money, or feature we wish it would provide, is either meaningless or doesn’t work at all, unless it can achieve the above.
In fact, the variable ability to accomplish the first goal, is exactly what ultimately limits the size of the economic network.
It’s why cowhide only ever work in small, disparate networks. It’s why glass beads failed after the European and African continents were connected. It’s why gold is the only thing that ever became a globally spanning monetary base, because a gold bar lost 500 years ago is the EXACT SAME gold bar today.
Exchanging value doesn’t matter if it isn’t expected to carry it. Payment speeds mean nothing if the cost to undo the payment is trivial. Privacy is of no purpose if there is no trustworthy value to protect.
Before anything else, money is a tool to protect value at a scale that no other good can match. And it’s very possible that Bitcoin is the single greatest system for scaling that capacity. Because the bigger it gets, the BETTER it is at protecting the value stored in it. Rather than diminishing with size, it actually compounds.

I definitely grind my own.
As for roasting my own, I can (I have a Behmor 1600) but I'm not a skilled roaster, and buying roast beans isn't such a big expense that I need to cut back on it and roast my own. If we hit nuclear winter, maybe I'll roast my own since everybody else will be dead. But for now I buy roast beans.

I did not know about that one.
I knew about the other Flair ones (Flair 58 Plus 2 being their top), and the Cafelat robot, the Aram, and the ones with boilers like the Olympia Cremina.
I went for cheap but effective. My hand grinder that can do espresso grind has not arrived yet and my existing 15 year old grinder doesn't quite do espresso grinds. But it works anyways because the neo builds pressure by restricting output. Sure, snobs will insist it could be better, but this is so good I cannot tell the difference. And it was cheap (US $100, NZ $250) compared to that $1500 device you mentioned.

Conductor (related to Chorus)
Every few days somebody posts an "Introducing ___" note to nostr, where they tell everybody about their new project that they have been working on for ages and finally have released. These are exciting and very cool.
I'm a little different. I'm gonna tell you want I'm working on before it is ready.
For a couple weeks I've been working on a web application called "conductor" (like that guy who swings a baton at an Orchestra). It is a relay management tool using NIP-86. I know there are a few others in development by other people, but it was time for me to get better at writing web applications and it seemed like I could get one working in just a few days (after the first day I felt like I was halfway there). Also, being the chorus developer I can adjust both sides until it does all the right things, which makes it easier to make progress.
In the process of developing conductor, I ran into issues with chorus and AUTH and have worked to get them resolved.

Also, a number of breaking changes had to happen to chorus (such as moving user configuration into the database so it could be dynamic) prompting me to prepare towards releasing a Chorus 2.0 which requires a small amount of migration. This is not ready yet, I'm just telling you what I am in the middle of doing.
Conductor will start out very basic, and while it will work with chorus relays it might not work with other relays as NIP-86 might not have the commands I was interested in. It won't work with 1984 reports yet either (but that is coming). It will just allow approving (or rejecting) events and pubkeys that haven't been approved yet using the same scheme chorus already uses with the `chorus_moderate` command. I will release it when this is all it does. I will release it again once you can manage users with it. And I will release it again once it handles 1984 reports too. One step at a time.

EAT REAL FOOD
I'm more confident in that advice than any other dietary advice. Bickering about carbs versus fat or plants versus meat is relatively minor. Humans thrive off of all sorts of crazy real-food diets including eating only fish and their guts, or living on only milk and blood, or eating mostly honey and boiled roots. But we do not thrive on aspartame.
