as a young man two decades ago, i began the search for significance & meaning in my life outside myself, pursuing everything with ferocity in everything from podium finishes in marathons & ultramarathons, writing novels, relationships, booze, and hobbies.
But all the achievements and pursuits, noble or not, failed to satisfy. I finally realized i would never feel satisfied with anything external to me.
a little over five years ago i began a search for significance and meaning inside myself, calling on my inner teacher, and pursuing truth and true peace. This search within myself is the real search, the real experience, the real journey we must all undertake, whether in this life or a thousand lifetimes from now. This inner peace obtained from the journey within gives me unspeakable happiness and joy. i found the significance and meaning i was looking for, but in the last place i had expected to find it as a young man.

她是民国生人，从小被迫缠过足，天生记忆非凡，读书过目不忘，熟读“四书五经”，文言基础扎实；
她12岁时，家人被八路军冀豫鲁边区支队崔田民部二大队绑票，半个多月后支付了30万块大洋（见曹县志）才把人赎回 ，可结果崔田民部仍将整个村庄洗劫后付之一炬；
文革中，她惨遭红卫兵殴打致伤，胃被切除了五分之四。她一度被关入医院的太平间，仅靠着好心人每夜接济食物才得以活着，断续时间竟长达8个多月！1966年，她不堪折磨试图服毒自尽，所幸被及时发现而救下；
她是一位杰出的妇科专家，她让许多患有疑难杂症濒临死亡的妇女得以存活，她拯救过的难产、早产儿更是无法计数。上世纪七、八十年代，她领导的妇产科在治疗“恶性滋养细胞肿瘤”贡献巨大，500多病例的治愈率达90%以上。她曾获得过河南省科技进步二等奖，受到过邓小平、胡耀邦的接见；
她65岁退休，却一脚踏进揭露中国艾滋病的惊天骗局之中，从此欲罢不能。她将100万的奖金尽数花在了艾滋病患者身上；
1996—2007年间，她进行了长达10多年的血祸调查。为了查访中国各地的艾滋病情况，她的足迹遍及十五个省区。她收到过来自艾滋病人和各种其他性病相关的信件15000封，她竟一一回复，未曾忽略任何一位求助者！
此后的年月，对她的打击与逼迫接踵而来。
老伴在她走访艾滋病患期间因病去世；儿子早年被判刑，心身破损；小女儿被剥夺工作权利无以为生。言及亲人，她垂泪说自己不是个好妻子，不是好母亲。可是她亲手安排、救助的艾滋孤儿就有164名。80多高龄，她依然能够一一叫上这些孩子的名字。
2001年，她被“全球卫生理事会”授予“乔纳森·曼卫生及人权奖”，但中国政府禁止她参加在美国举行的典礼，她的原工作单位拒绝给她办理护照。因为他们害怕她会向全世界讲出“中国艾滋病主要是血液传播”的真相；
2002年，她被《时代》杂志授予“亚洲英雄”称号；
同年，她被美国《商业周刊》授予“亚洲之星”称号，并在同年获得菲律宾“拉蒙·麦格塞塞”公共服务奖，但由于政府阻挠她无法去马尼拉参加颁奖典礼；
2007年以来，她因为揭露艾滋病丑闻，遭受到地方政府的各种阻力、刁难和迫害。官方、黑势力甚至家庭内部全都视她为敌人；
老伴儿的去世，儿女的远离，她将成千上万的艾滋病人当作自己的家庭成员，她已然成了他们的守护人，与他们生息与共。
然而，2007年也是她走向世界的一年：她因获得美国的“妇女领导者奖”申请出国领奖，河南当局全力阻止并要求她对外公开表示“自动放弃”，甚至把她遭受精神重创的儿子动员上门，给老人磕响头，跪请母亲“听组织上的话”。老人扶着儿子磕得红肿的额头，泪流满面。
可是她用那双拿过无数次手术刀的手拿起了笔，写下了两行字。第一行是：“儿子曾因我受害坐过三年狱。”第二行是：“本人行为本人负责，一切概与儿子无关。”
最后，还是因为吴仪放行，以及时任美国国务卿的希拉里从中斡旋，她才得以赴美出席颁奖仪式，并在白宫与希拉里见面。
同年，她与蒋彦永同时获得纽约科学院2007年度科学家人权奖。
同年，38980号小行星以她的名字命名……

2003年12月，时任国务院副总理的吴仪见到了高耀洁，吴仪说：“有人告诉我，中国艾滋病传播的主要途径是吸毒传播和性传播。”
高耀洁回答：“他们在骗你！”
她坚持认为，在中国当下，由于卖血输血产生的血液传播，才是中国艾滋病的主要问题。她在博客里写道：“关于艾滋病血液的传播问题，不是又有抬头， 而是根本没有解决。”在她看来，非法血站并没有销声匿迹，只是由公开转为地下。
她认为：“在中国血源缺乏的状况下，怎么可能制止非法采血？800CC的血，只卖50元，这么高的利润，血头怎么可能放手？”
她还说：“艾滋病并不是河南的专利，血液传播是个全国性的问题。我走过了全国十几个县市、几十个乡镇、几百个村庄，见过几千个艾滋病感染者，那么多由于贫困而去卖血的农民，怎么会是性乱、吸毒感染艾滋病的呢？”
她曾收到一位叫周洪强的家长来信，其子周枫林2004年10月22日出生，次年8月23日、9月1日因病在医院输了两次血，染上了艾滋病，2006年6月9日死亡。她说：“这两年卖血感染艾滋病的病人一茬茬地死，艾滋病被中国人理解成脏病，吸毒或者作风淫乱才得病，艾滋病人被歧视，要还艾滋病人清白。”
让她倍感遗憾的是，一些专家和学校对艾滋病表现得很冷漠。她曾将一些防艾材料寄给中科院一位知名院士，没几天，材料被原封不动地退回。她给河南、湖北、江苏等地的图书馆发书，发的是她编辑的《中国艾滋病调查》和《艾滋病与性病的防治》，写明了是免费赠阅，后来有图书馆将书退回来，认为她是“先发书再要钱”。
她在一次采访中这样评价当时河南的主政领导：李长春“卖血”，李克强执政之后没有揭发，他不敢顶，继续隐瞒。李长春之后接班的那位（接任河南省委书记的陈奎元？）想查血头，但中央把此人调走了。所以，李克强会做官。

I had a full Bitcoin in 2016 (not really, I didn’t hold my own keys). Sold it at the top ($19k) and thought I was a genius. I remember getting off a plane in Houston for a layover and seeing the price. Coinbase was congested and I almost couldn’t get the sell order through. I must have tried 50 times and it finally went through just before I had to switch to airplane mode for my next flight. Years later and now that same Bitcoin would cost me $92,638 to replace. Obviously if I had the money to buy it now, I wouldn’t use Coinbase and I would never ever sell it again.

I've been openly saying this for two years. I hate Shitcoins, but that's not the point of this. They could build their best Shitcoin app on Nostr without relying on Discord or Twitter. I won't use it, but them building it shows the versatility and openness of the protocol.

Diana and Her Companions (Dutch: Diana en haar Nimfen or Diana en haar gezellinnen) is a painting by Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer completed in the early to mid-1650s, now at the Mauritshuis museum in The Hague. Although the exact year is unknown, the work may be the earliest painting of the artist still extant, with some art historians placing it before Christ in the House of Martha and Mary and some after.
The painting's solemn mood is unusual for a scene depicting the goddess Diana, and the nymph washing the central figure's feet has captured the attention of critics and historians, both for her activity and contemporary clothing. Rather than directly illustrating one of the dramatic moments in well-known episodes from myths about Diana, the scene shows a woman and her attendants quietly at her toilette. The theme of a woman in a private, reflective moment would grow stronger in Vermeer's paintings as his career progressed.
Nothing of the work's history before the mid-19th century is known, and the painting was not widely accepted as one of Vermeer's until the early 20th century, when its similarities with Mary and Martha were noticed. About one ninth of the painting's width has been removed from the right side, and it was not discovered until 1999 or 2000 was that the sky in the upper right-hand corner had been added in the 19th century.
