No. There's usually a QR scanner built in. You just scan your address QR. My biggest issue with these is the fees they charge. Remember, convenience is always more money. They are good way to quickly convert cash to bitcoin.

This marks a historic shift: the U.S. government is developing an acquisition strategy specifically for Bitcoin, not crypto.

Addresses aren’t the issue. It’s that if you want to sell for cash they don’t use Lightning so you end up having to wait up to an hour for a text message that your withdrawal is ready. At least that’s how it worked the one and only time I ever used one.

"An article I wrote with Troy Cross, published a couple years ago called "Mine Your Values". The idea there—it’s kind of a pun—is that we have values, things we care about and wish to promote in the world.
Step one: mine them—find out what they are, dig a little bit, do some introspection, a little thinking, a little philosophy to figure out your values.
Step two: enact them in the world through your investments. Our hypothesis in that article was that Bitcoin mining is, in fact, one important way for Bitcoiners to enact their values in the world, especially those who care about a sustainable future, carbon neutrality, or reducing carbon emissions.

However, I have always thought it makes perfect sense to me. Is it fair? That's a different question. But it is certainly sensible and rational to get charged higher premiums if you get into an accident that's not your fault

I venture to guess it is common particularly during the *hard times* phase. It is easy to talk a big game while risking little and ridiculing the actions—especially imperfect actions—of those few honorable men who are wilfully in the arena.
Defenders of the West is a series of biographical vignettes of really based crusaders who risked everything to preserve Christendom. The political environments are always complex, to be sure, but what you are describing happens to a number of the men leading the crusades. I'm currently in the chapter on the crusader John Hunyadi of Hungary. He experienced a number of bloviating nobles and kings who didn't come through on their promises to assist him despite the existential threat of the Ottomans on not only Hungary but the entirety of the West.

I used to love twitter. I legit had to mourn it’s death. Despite its flaws I loved it. Looking back, I loved it because it gave me hope. It gave me hope that many could have a voice. I didn’t know that more than some people globally having a voice online was possible.
Nostr gives me hope that ALL people can eventually have a voice online globally. I have more hope in Nostr than I ever did in twitter.

What happens when folks in WoT relays start following bots? 🤣
I've unfollowed several people lately because of this exact problem. I'm starting to think that WoT needs an ownertrust level similar to PGP. Maybe a config file mapping pubkeys to trust levels:

As the relay owner, I have "ultimate" ownertrust, meaning if I follow someone, they get write access to the relay.
Everyone I follow directly gets "marginal" trust by default.
If someone I don’t know ("untrusted") is followed by three people I marginally trust, they get write access to my relay (which is basically what you’re already doing in Haven and WoT).
It would be nice to have a couple of additional trust levels though:
Full: I trust utxo not to follow spam bots, so whoever utxo follows gets write access to my relay.
Never: I know someone follows bots, but I don’t want to kick them out of my relay, so their follower data isn’t used for trust calculations (positive or negative).
Reports could work the same way for blacklisting:
Anyone I report as the owner is automatically blacklisted.
Anyone reported by someone I marked as fully trustworthy is also blacklisted.
Anyone reported by three people I marginally trust is blacklisted.
If I mark someone as never to be trusted, their reports are discarded.
What do you think? It sounds more complex than it actually is, and it works well for PGP. Shouldn't be too hard to adapt Haven and WoT to read a new file with custom trust levels.
