Happened to have one on my Citrine relay. Looks like they are indeed plain-text, so relay operators do get to read them and watch your thoughts come in live.
-
Oh gotcha! Yes completely understand. Everyone deserves to build the app that they would want to use. Also I have so much admiration for everyone who worked on nostr the first four years. So inspiring to start such a revolution.
Thank you for getting excited for NextBlock!
-
Oh, I completely agree! We should be building ALL THE THINGS on Nostr, and I am stoked to try out NextBl9ck when it is ready. I was just giving my take on why the Nostr community doesn't seem to care much about what is happening with TicTok.
-
As Nostr grows so will the community that builds it. I joined Nostr a year ago and months later nostr:npub1pmhevxtlt3478pvmdqt7dftnv6zc2mzpdc569yjm6ks4k2jhezcs53uksr and I start working on #nextblock. Because I pushed for it.
We think we're building a great social media experience that anyone would enjoy and the benefits of Nostr will be the bonus feature.
The painpoints of Twitter you listed are the same on any legacy social media. And Bitcoiners have been divided from the rest of society because of legacy social media blocking information. We should be working to bring different experiences for the masses. To free us all.

it's a very soft deadline

I finally was able to sign Olas events with Amber today, properly; via NIP-55. It won’t be included in the next release as the next one is focused on much better wallet and connectivity improvements; but the one after that will be 100% about Amber. Both should be out before Thursday.
-
yuhp
-
I get that. We do have some devs who are very much against the official Google PlayStore (for good reason), which means you simply may never be able to use their apps unless you are willing to step outside of that comfort zone and either use the Zapstore, or download the apk directly from their GitHub.

Looks like long-form notes do show up in the main feed. I just hadn't noticed, since they are so few and far between compared with kind 1 notes.
I definitely prefer having a separate feed for them, though.

-
Amount... Meant npub, but autocorrect had no idea what that is. 😂
-
That makes sense. Thank you for the explanation! I can definitely see the benefit of following folks for particular content types, rather than following everything a person posts, and then the client can give you the options, or if it is a client that focuses only on a certain kind, only add the amount to that follow list.
-
changing the meaning of kinds in nostr, specially something so ubiquitous like kind:3 is very hard/impossible to get agreement on
but besides that, follow lists are already quite constrained by size limit, multiple people run into this issue, they are also designed quite poorly (leading to the issue where people get their follow list wiped often)
we are still figuring this out, but these scoped follow events should be an improvement over the kind:3 we've had thus far (although it's unlikely the kind:3 will go away any time soon)

I think it's a Alby Hub issue. And Alby is aware of it. When the backend node goes down, Alby Hub isn't always able to restart services, and manual intervention is required to re-initialize the connection between the backend node and Alby Hub.
-
If there's anyone who can make sure services are running properly on their Start9, it's nostr:nprofile1qqs8fl79rnpsz5x00xmvkvtd8g2u7ve2k2dr3lkfadyy4v24r4k3s4sppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7qg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxummnw3ezucn89ur9eu8h. I tried to DM the nostr:npub17304velluajf6lylvjynpj2f3ndg396w063gj2gef5qk0nwtcyjqfj9yky but got a bot reply. But yeah I keep getting errors
-
First, it's already happening with big pools excluding transactions in order to be OFAC compliant, and yet those pools are only getting bigger.
Not all censorship results in financial loss that would actually make miners leave due to their bottom-line shrinking.
Those accusations against nostr:nprofile1qqsq9k04vahllseell55m74n3047y88pzlr0z5yany32st29fapqmgsppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7qgawaehxw309ahx7um5wghxy6t5vdhkjmn9wgh8xmmrd9skctc87ckyu were ridiculous because OCEAN had and still has such a small percentage of the hash rate that any transactions they intentionally excluded would have made it into the very next block, and their intention was ALWAYS to let the individual miners make their own block templates, which we can now do, so OCEAN has no say in what makes it into a block.
Meanwhile, all it takes is two entities to collude and they can keep transactions out of 90% of blocks, which has a meaningful impact on how long it could take for those transactions to be included by a smaller pool.
Most mining companies would not solo-mine, because they need the consistent revenue.
The point is, if a solution to the problem exists, and it does. DATUM works. Then more pools should adopt it, or miners should move to pools that it can be used with.
-
My only real concern would be a decrease in the number of nodes, as that could indeed lead to centralization! As long as the incentives are aligned, I don't see any issue.
-
There have been some cases of censorship in the past, like when the Samurai team accused Ocean itself. Anyway, game theory takes care of this. If this kind of thing starts happening frequently, the censoring pool will end up losing money, and miners will switch to another pool or even choose to mine solo. Next.
-
Its more likely his backend node went down or had some connectivity issue, and he didn't property restart Alby Hub. I've seen this with a lot of self-hosted Alby configs, especially those using Start9.
-
Wow thanks. I did not know that or haven't checked it in a while. 🫂

Yeah, I don't think there is a way to get your credits back out. Consider it a donation to the service provider.
Unleashed is a great little service, and I have never had issues with it. Others also seem to be having no issues, so there must be something strange on your end such that you are getting errors while no one else is reporting the same.

Flotilla is a client for relay-based communities. Find it at flotilla.social
-
Is flotilla a relay?
-
5 times is the threshold but you are far, far, far more then 5 times.
-
What you are referring to are orphan blocks, which do happen from time to time when miners find a block very close to the same time as another miner. However, both of those blocks usually propagate to the whole network before the next block is found. The nodes just hold onto both blocks until the next block is found and propagates out to everyone. The chances of two more blocks being found at about the same time and built upon different previous blocks is very small, but you still wouldn't have half of the network not knowing about one of the blocks. Both blocks would propagate out to all nodes, and they would keep them both until it became clear which chain would become the longest.
But the miners aren't relying on ALL nodes to do this for them. They are relying on THEIR node, or really their pool's node in most cases, to provide that service. Which is part of the reason pools charge a fee for the use of their node...
-
Let's say two miners (A and B) find a block at the same time. One part of the network will stick to Block A, while the other part of the network sticks to block B (due to propagation difference).
The miner (or lets say longest chain) that can faster propagate through the network over the next blocks will win and thus get the reward. Not sure if we cab call it a race condition but definetely here the reward of miners depends on nodes.
-
I have no idea if mine will appear there or how. The Amthetyst Algorithm basically counts your entire history against you per the code.
For example, if you ever said the same thing more than 5 times, spam!
-
Interesting.......I heard that a few times. But many have noticed the autol-blocking.
-
No. And I also just spun up a brand new npub and looked at my security filters. You are not listed as a spammer, and I can see your posts just fine.

he is, he even made a misleading video about it.......if it's not happening to you, you are special or security filters are off

-
I have no idea what you mean by micro work... I also don't know what you mean that the service nodes provide is how miners get their rewards... It's not. Miners literally pay themselves... Nodes don't pay them or in any way make sure that they get paid. They just make sure the miners didn't pay themselves more than they are allowed to by rejecting any block where a miner tries to pay themselves more than they are owed.
-
Stop lying.
Security Filters are on by default.

By providing that service, miners get their reward - I cannot disagree more to describe this with 'no"work" involved'.
The only challenge I see, is that the additional work required to proof their micro work could be more than their actual "work" provided.

They do, but they only provide that service to each other, so all nodes equally benefit from other nodes and provide that benefit to other nodes. So again, there's not anything they should get paid for. There is no "work" involved in that. It's just relaying information around to their peers who also relay information to them.
