i got that same warning from flotilla, whatever its doing there is not reflective of the relay config.
eventually ill get nip66 implemented for the relay.tools directory so the trex can show more relays
nostrrr.com is the next trex, but it doesnt show all kinds..

Well, the relay communities are like that. I have the relays listed in Chachi or Flotilla, and then I just switch between them.
And I only look at my fave relays on Amethyst, Coracle, Habla, and Nostrudel.
There's a sort of synergy going on, now, with crossover between relay community clients and microblogging clients, so that we'll eventually be able to have one of each and use them slightly differently because they offer two different views of the same relay dataset.
Relay communities make Kind 01 clients an outdated model, but they're adapting and might pick those use cases up, so it should get interesting.

Reading all this i think it is better to just have a talk, because i cant figure out if i just mis-interpet what you are saying or you have inaccurate notions of how Nostr works, or some combination of the two. So we would have to sort that out before i can answer :).
FWI Dikaios, currently recipes are not seperate kinds, but use the long-form kind. iirc Pablo mentioned trying to filter out the recipes due to this conflation that currently exists. This is also part of the reason we are looking at recipes as nostr:nprofile1qqsr3gwphg38qcy5lpzd2vphk3apdnfaywkpk8nq4yljkthqn33y6ncpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumn0wd68ytnzv9hxgqg5waehxw309aex2mrp0yhxgctdw4eju6t03d92cv

Highlighter is supposed to be the place content creators build a following. They can highlight their articles, have paid subscriptions, are shown on feeds like Primal. It's like the content creators dashboard.
To get Zap Cooking that far, we would need a coder who would want to take it that far. And that is also something nostr:npub15u3cqhx6vuj3rywg0ph5mfv009lxja6cyvqn2jagaydukq6zmjwqex05rq needs to approve of.

If you're looking for one client to post both the recipe and the long-form article together, the one that would probably make most sense would be to integrate long-form into zap.cooking rather than recipe posting into Highlighter or another long form client.

I would like to make it easier on content creators, pull up highlight, add images, add recipes, and let it sync up. This is a dream. Might not happen for a bit, but I can ask. If content creators only had to go to one place, do all their business, and then it gets put in different Nostr apps for different reasons is more ideal.
I already know I can post the recipe on zap.cooking and have them use it on Highlighter. I literally just told someone to do that right before I posted this note to Pablo, Seth, and Primal. It's kind of a wishful ask.

Hey, channel opening is a one time fee, and that goes to onchain fees and (in certain cases) to your channel partner.
There is a monthly fee only for Alby Cloud, if you decide to outsource running and maintaining Alby Hub to us.
If you run it on your computer, it is completely free

And if the LSP suddenly closes (how i think it work) the sats in my LN wallet get send to my cold wallet, if i added it, or else they are gone? And if the onchain tx fees are high that could mean not much is left..?
With the hub app 'pw fill-in area', also if i fill something in there and try to copy it hitting right mouse no options show up to copy/paste.
I could either get used to it, fill in the pw manually every time, or maybe make it shorter(less strong) because this app with pw are only on this device i use? So it's not that someone could hack it and use it on their device, unless they have this physical device with app?

Yes. Lightning channels open and close in one on-chain bitcoin node transaction.
So in one channel you can have many transactions on lightning while it all appears as one transaction on the bitcoin blockchaib when the channel is closed.
I pay my friends tab at the bar, he pays mine we pay someone esles a group them get us back, last call close shop, all one bill settled.

Between your lightning node and another lightning node.
You're basically paying your tab in advance till it runs out.

From there, sats ride via The Girth Channel.

The payment is for the channel which is with one of the LSPs. It is a one time payment as long as the channel is open and if everything works fine the channel stays open.
As to the password we should check why you can not copy it in. to start the hub or to login you have to enter it.

My technical language is a bit messy, sorry, i ment extension for windows. I use the alby atm. Thank you for giving some options.. Coinos looks interesting and so do the nostr signers. I would be able to combine the wallet and nostr signer i'm guess.

I just downloaded the alby hub, got surprised with a 20k sat payment to open the channel. Is this a one time thing as long as I use this computer I have? Or can i log into it via other devices onto my alby hub?
It does work a bit weird because i can't copy/past my password into the desktop app and needed to typ in manually that one time verifying code(don't have the name right) to activate the alby hub. Do i have to write the password it every time? Or is this hub/password only stuck to this device?)
I'm not used to apps, hear people talk about them, but i am somewhat oldschool dumb internetter.
🙏

Fair point. It's less likely that a domain registar would do this, but again it's entirely possible.

Can you really ever even say you own your lightning address even in full self custody. Unless you use the IP address for your LN you're still just renting the domain.

Yep. We could. It's a trust relationship no matter who you're using for Lightning addresses, unless you're using your own domain and web server.

You'll get no argument from me on that! People are generally unaware of the tradeoffs of ANY given service. They are also generally unwilling to put in the work to educate themselves in how to mitigate them, even with software that allows for it.
The answer to lack of competition, though, is more people who are capable of doing so building alternatives that are approachable for users.
For instance, I am happily using Datum to compose my own block templates from my own node's mempool, but only because it was easy to install and configure for someone of my limited technical literacy. Expect me to compile something from source to be able to use it, though, and I am out. As are many others of my level of grug brain and lower.
Make me an option that is even remotely as useful to me as Alby Hub, just as easy to run, and gets rid of some of the existing tradeoffs and I will happily use it instead.

my VPS in bulgaria also restricts port 25 but i have zero interest in doing SMTP service anyway... my workaround for this specific case would be that the middleware or client side would have a wireguard extension to access a private network for this, and that would satisfy the auth requirement that is the reason for this restriction
SMTP is broken, utterly, it's the main reason why google has monopolised email

> i don't think they get to control, only to restrict, there's a difference, and if they do that too much they risk losing your subscription
Right, but if every provider does it, then where are you going to switch to? For instance port 25 incoming and outgoing traffic is blocked by default on every cloud service I've worked with in the US. You must express written formal request to open port 25 and submit a KYC.
This is because government has laws in place to restrict this, but what are my choices?

The other issue, is who gets to determine what tradeoffs are good for the average user... Usually the service/software. Kind of a big deal when those decisions get made for users without their knowledge, permission, or ability to easily change that AND still use your service. If there is a lack of competition like we see in big tech, they are forced to live with these tradeoffs or nothing at all.

I'm trying press people into discussing these tradeoffs. It can't be all silver bullets and rainbows. Lighting is retarded complicated and making it easier for the end user is papering over the complexities by adding "hidden" trade offs.

That would be a conflation of self-custody with self-hosting. Custody is, who holds the keys. Hosting is who controls the computer where the software is running. Now, if you are running your Alby Hub on anyone else's computer/server, it may still be self-custody, but it is not self-hosted, and there are certain sovereignty trade-offs you are making. They may or may not be worth it to you, but they are also very different tradeoffs from someone else holding the keys to your funds.

Alby Hub is not for everyone. If you don't want to run a dedicated full Bitcoin node and LND, then you have to be okay with the tradeoffs of trusting Alby's node for all on-chain data, and channel opening and closing. You know... Just like any other self-custody Lightning "wallet" that isn't running on top of your own stack, like Phoenix, Zeus' Olympus node-on-a-phone, or Mutiny before they shut down.
There is no perfect solution. They all have trade-offs and we just have to determine which ones we are okay with.
