i was trying to figure out why the notes weren't increasing in length when I told them to be 10x longer than the midi specified and it turns out my ADSR's decay duration ratio was set to zero, meaning I think the signal shot down to zero instantly and so the sustain and release stages, while technically "playing" were inaudible and looked like it was just cutting the notes really short
