Why more prison officers are having relationships with inmates. Number of those dismissed for inappropriate relationships with prisoners more than doubled during past decade.
The publicly declared number of prison officers dismissed for inappropriate relationships with inmates is relatively small but rising. From five a decade ago in 2014-15, it has increased to 12 in 2022-23 and 13 in 2021-22. Dismissals for misconduct have almost doubled from 99 to 193 in the past four years, while more than 120 prison officers have been investigated for corruption since 2016, with a quarter sacked for having sex with prisoners or smuggling in contraband. The rise partly reflects a tougher approach by the prison service, with a beefed up anti-corruption investigation unit as well as a “zero-tolerance” approach by governors. “We’re seeing a shift from not prosecuting, as governors didn’t want it in the papers, to taking action,” said a jail recruitment and training expert. “The best example is Berwyn prison in north Wales, where Nick Leader, the governor, was adamant that anyone who did that would go to trial.” HMP Berwyn made headlines in 2023 when it was revealed that 18 women working at the prison had been sacked or resigned after crossing relationship boundaries with inmates. At HMP Parc, Ruth Shmylo had “phone sex” with Harri Pullen, a convicted drug dealer, but was found not guilty of misconduct in a public office.

Today was an amazingly fucked up day.
From early morning calls at work, then I was running and writing the code for the registration form on the client site, with almost dead phone I was rushing around looking for a charger and fucking with the arrogance of the management, which set itself impossible deadlines and demanded fulfillment literally here and now.
It's like giving an assignment and saying it was yesterday.
My reaction of course was violent, but I did a lot of the tasks set and in general I am satisfied with myself.
Just gained new experience :)
Although next time I will probably send them away, as it is decidedly wrong. And no one will make them beautiful work for three minutes and two pennies of money.
