Después de varias semanas de charlas, una vez que se cerró el mercado en Italia, el presidente de Boca fue el primero en hablar: “Paredes renovó con Roma, entonces ¿cómo puedo pensar que pase algo en junio si acaba de renovar?”. En un tono cortante, el ídolo del Xeneize dejó en claro que no sólo se había frustrado su llegada en enero, sino que también se había abortado la idea de un regreso a mitad de 2025 porque el jugador había -supuestamente- extendido su vínculo hasta junio de 2026.
Ahora, el que habló fue Paredes. “Siempre fui muy claro con mis declaraciones. Jamás di a entender que volvía ahora. Siempre fui bastante claro en ese sentido. Creo que en noviembre, cuando tuve la oportunidad de decirlo, fui muy claro. Yo tenía un contrato que tenía que respetar y lo hice“, expresó en diálogo con ESPN. ¿Entonces?
Lo primero que hay que contar es que ninguno de los dos protagonistas reveló detalles de lo que verdaderamente pasó. ¿Hubo negociaciones? Sí. ¿Paredes abrió la puerta para regresar? Sí. Pero finalmente no hubo acuerdo y el futbolista de la Selección Argentina sigue en Italia.
A todo esto, hay que sumar un detalle no menor. Mientras la dirigencia de Boca filtraba información sobre que el club estaba haciendo un esfuerzo económico muy grande para ofrecerle a Paredes un contrato similar al de Edinson Cavani (mejor pago del plantel), la familia de Leo jugaba su papel en redes sociales.
Camila Galante, pareja del jugador, publicó una historia y lo etiquetó después de que se confirmara que su regreso se había caído: “No juzgues a una persona sin saber la verdad“. A eso, agregó el hashtag “Cuánto pelotudo suelto que hay” y escribió “Las cosas como son. Te amo“. Paredes reposteó todo.
Hay un punto que es clave en esta novela. El volante de la Roma dijo que él fue “muy claro en noviembre”. Sin embargo, desde noviembre a esta parte, tuvo la posibilidad de terminar con los rumores con un simple posteo en Instagram, o con una declaración en Europa o incluso cuando participó, junto a Paulo Dybala, de un streaming en enero del influencer C0ker, en el que ignoró deliberadamente todas las consultas de los usuarios sobre si iba a volver al Xeneize. Pero eligió no hacerlo.
Mientras tanto, desde Boca la dirigencia contó en off que no sólo hubo negociaciones avanzadas, sino que hubo charlas telefónicas entre Riquelme y el futbolista y que el club le acercó una oferta de contrato que el jugador rechazó. ¿Qué pasará ahora?
La duda que surge es si las negociaciones, que sí existieron, erosionaron la relación de Paredes y Riquelme a un punto tal de el futbolista se niegue a volver con esta dirigencia. Por eso, el propio Román abrió el paraguas en diálogo con DSports: “Siempre va a tener las puertas abiertas de nuestro club. Cuando se habla tanto, prefiero quedarme al margen porque las cosas hablan por si sola. Él sabe que lo quiero muchísimo, tenemos una relación muy linda y siempre vamos a tener la ilusión de que regrese”.
Paredes dejó en claro ahora que cumplirá su contrato con Roma y, si se activa la renovación automática el mismo se extenderá hasta junio de 2026. El sueño de Boca era que sea el emblema del Xeneize en el Mundial de clubes de este año, pero Riquelme le pasó la mochila al jugador al hablar sobre esta renovación.
