I did add this to Sovereign Feeds a few months ago. I haven't seen any real adoption, but it seems that podcast:images could pretty easily be modified to allow for different aspect ratios that apps can use for their various design choices, very similar to what this is trying to accomplish, and I like the idea that podcast images brings of different image sizes for the app to choose from for bandwidth consideration.
