We are archiving disk images in Datamuseum.dk and since our "silo" format is ISO-28500 "WARC" they are gzip'ed automatically.
The solution to the corruption problem is the usual: Many copies and frequent audits of sha256 digests.
I think the largest disk we have archived so far is 9GB
We have not yet entered the "Windows-area", we operate with a loose '25+ year' horizon, but once we use a different approach, because we dont want to archive endless copies of windows.

Meanwhile, Nostr relays are basically standard web servers with the same censorship weak spots. #pubky relies on a huge bittorrent swarm, which is hard to shut down—though not many folks seem to mind right now.
