Thanks! Everything was sort of unsatisfactorily resolved by the police deciding that the suspect had fled the area (which I'm sure he did, phoning a friend for a ride or some such).
One lesson to be learned from this is that, if you're a fugitive, don't flee onto a college campus, because that will set off a HUGE response. For some reason, people like their kids and want to keep them safe.
