Huh. Have you been in a skybridge/elevated walkway? Taken individually they're mostly nothing super remarkable. The fact that you can cross most of downtown Minneapolis without setting foot on the street is the unusual thing here. Well, that and there's a lot of retail shops on the 2nd floor of the buildings downtown as a result.
The whole skyway "vibe" is sorta somewhere between a mall, an airport, and a corporate office lobby.
