something that not a lot of #linux users seem to know:
most GUIs in linux if you select text, it instantly goes into a "primary" buffer, and if you middle click, at the cursor position it pastes the text of the last thing you selected via that buffer
it has been a standard feature since the inception of the X Window System in the early 80s
unfortunately because almost nobody knows it exists, it is teetering on the verge of extinction
people who do serious amounts of text editing and are used to it are being harmed by this so i am doing my bit to inform people
what inspired me to write this note was that the intelij EAP version of Goland i have been running for the last few days seems to have forgotten about implementing this feature even though the configuration items are still in the settings
don't let this rare animal become extinct, for the sake of salty old cranky devs like me who depend on it to not get repetitive strain injury
