Wow I didn't know seed companies went that as to trespass far that's insane. Their lawyers probably put in the contract when they bought the seeds that's so scummy.
Amazon and the likes probably threw a party when FTC Lina Khan left. Maybe the solution is to reduce the number of years you can hold a copyright because it is unfair when you've done all the hard work, R&D from the ground up only for Amazon to come in once they seen your idea become a commercial success.
The point I was making about books is selling classical works and undercutting the original publishing house. I don't think we've see people mass producing Moby Dick or whatever and doing this. Or they could make a new Harry Potter book set in the same world with the same characters. People should be allowed to do that. Owning an idea is just dumb.
btw Mickey Mouse is open domain now and we haven't seen films with this character appear, let alone reach 1% of success of disney, it's just knockoff backpacks for kids with this character that are being made. Sonic fans have been making fan games since forever and I've yet to see them announced at E3 or similar conventions, in these cases you never see a derivative product overtaking the original creators.
The whole idea that copyright protects is for them and not us.

This is my favorite photo from today's walk. Summer was excited to get to the swimming hole at the end of the trail.
I had to risk life and limb to trudge far enough in the mud to catch a picture of her diving but for Summer I will stretch my limits.
If there is ever a dog Olympics for diving Summer would be a champ.
The walk was cold but sooo worth it.

Can one of my tech friends please help this non-techie out with a Linux beginner’s question?
Since Mint doesn’t like the wifi adapter on my old laptop I’ve bought a USB wifi adapter that people say works with Linux. I have downloaded a zip file for a driver from GitHub (created an account there - what have I become!).
Now I’m stumped and not having any joy finding an answer online. How do I actually install this driver from the downloaded file?

For context, the US consumed 100,000 petajoules of energy in 2021.

I'd like to give my #Xbox Series X the boot. ( It's my last device running #Microsoft spyware!) But I really enjoy couch gaming. I also use the Xbox as my media player, mostly for #Plex, with occasional other streaming services. But honestly, I could give up the other streaming services too.
I'm having a hard time determining whether the SteamDeck can really function this way. Anybody have any tips for me? What will the #gaming experience be like in comparison?
