FYI: department of education fired all probationary employees yesterday.
A lot of colleagues received an email around 5 pm noting termination; “…regret to inform you that your position has been terminated. See attached. Please coordinate with your supervisor to return your equipment and retrieve any belongings that may in the building.Best wishes,Phillip Juengst.”The attached letter of termination noted an incorrect start date for majority of colleagues and incorrect information regarding their probationary period. This came only a few hours after an all staff meeting where Phillip told all employees on the call to "take a deep breath" and "drink water" and then proceeded to play a song that matched his words… the cherry on top was this 4000 person meeting only let in a few hundred and insisted the rest would get information through slides….. Any guidance on next steps for those impacted? Is legal avenues the right idea? Hard to hold the line and stay positive.

I was saying last week that I felt like using AI to code made me more distant from the code, making it hard to understand and maintain in the longer term. I called this "legacy code generation". There's also a long-term effect:
