Printer lady is a piece of work. She has a Mac and a wireless Brother printer/copier/scanner. "How old is this?" "I don't know, I bought it from a dead person!"
It's wireless. There are three people waiting. It wasn't working well before. I can get it on the library wifi, I can't make it talk to her Mac. She has a cable but the only ports are RJ-45 (OH SHIT IT'S A FAX TOO).
I explain that wireless printing is witchcraft and if there wasn't a queue I'd help, but there is so I won't.

Pat can't figure out why her (Earthlink!) webmail will occasionally open a blank compose window or do other weird stuff. Not sure how to debug ancient stuff that isn't happening now. Also wanted to figure out why videos on PBS will sometimes just be audio no video on Edge. Works fine on Chrome.
Suggestion: use Chrome. Reddit confirms that this sometimes happens. She had a friend who gave her lots of advice (upgrade to Win 11, make backups) but no practical help. I gave her pointers.

There are whole books, entire conferences, and multiple post-graduate courses dedicated to helping writers find their way when they find themselves staring at a blank page or screen. I don’t know if it’s intentionally cruel or just careless, but this seems like white-knuckling a fairly straightforward task for no discernible reason.
Thankfully, there might be a better way.
