Die Blende müßte man einzeln tauschen können, es gibt auch Modelle, wo das Laufwerk rückgesetzt eingebaut war und davor eine Klappe. Ich hab allerdings glaub ich keine mehr in beige (oder hellgrau, das würde farblich ja auch passen).

Europa moet zich tot de tanden toe wapenen. Dat zei de Litouwse minister van Defensie Sakaliene een paar dagen geleden in een interview. "Want als er inbreuk wordt gedaan op een centimeter grondgebied van Litouwen, Letland of Finland, dan faalt iedereen."
De ommezwaai naar een meer op Rusland gestelde politiek vanuit het Witte Huis is hard aangekomen in Litouwen en de andere Baltische staten. Deze landen waarschuwen al jaren dat als Rusland wegkomt met agressie en landjepik, zoals eerder ook op de Krim, de Balten zelf ondanks hun NAVO-lidmaatschap ook doelwit kunnen worden.
Niet alleen wordt steeds meer duidelijk dat Oekraïne grondgebied zal moeten opgeven voor een bestand, de Verenigde Staten zouden bovendien overwegen om troepen weg te halen uit Europa. Vooral in landen die grenzen aan Rusland en die veel te danken hebben aan die Amerikaanse aanwezigheid, zijn de zorgen groot.
Extra investeren
Dat is terug te horen bij bijna iedereen die je ernaar vraagt in Kaunas, de tweede stad van Litouwen. "Als er een vredesdeal komt met Rusland, dan is de kans dat wij straks een oorlog krijgen groter", zegt de 32-jarige Mantas op straat. "Zeker in een paar jaar."
Litouwen wil de komende jaren de defensie-uitgaven verhogen tot 6 procent van het bruto nationaal product. Dat zou meer zijn dan de ambities van bijna alle andere NAVO-landen. Deze week maakte de Litouwse president bekend dat het land nog eens 10 miljard euro gaat investeren in de Oekraïense defensie-industrie.
In een besneeuwd trainingsveld op een half uur rijden van Kaunas staan Nederlandse verkenningsvoertuigen opgesteld. In paren rijden ze het terrein op en openen het vuur op de opgestelde schietschijven. Het is een training, al gaat deze missie in Litouwen veel verder dan alleen trainen. Hier is Nederland met een paar honderd militairen medeverantwoordelijk voor het beschermen van NAVO-grondgebied.
Rustiger aan de grens
De Nederlandse missie werkt samen met onder meer Duitsers en Noren, is bedoeld om de Litouwse bevolking gerust te stellen, Rusland af te schrikken, maar ook als het nodig is dit grondgebied te beschermen. "We zijn als NAVO een verdedigende groep", zegt luitenant Mark tussen de klappen van de zware mitrailleurs op de voertuigen door. "Dus ja, de simulaties hier zijn voor het verdedigende gevecht."
Defensie wil niet ingaan op wat de nieuwe koers van de Amerikanen kan gaan betekenen voor deze missie. Luitenant-kolonel Antonie Pijnappel laat doorschemeren dat hij bij Baltische collega's met wie hij contact heeft nog geen grote zorgen bespeurt. "Wij zijn hier samen om de Russische agressie tegen te houden."
Momenteel is het aan de andere kant van de grens rustig. Russische eenheden die vroeger rond de Baltische staten waren gestationeerd, zijn weggehaald voor de oorlog in Oekraïne. Maar als er een bestand komt, houdt men er rekening mee dat dit kan veranderen. "Het kost nog een bepaalde tijd voor de Russen om zich gereed te maken", zegt Pijnappel. "Maar het zou kunnen dat ze dan aan de andere kant weer met grotere aantallen terugkomen."
'Verantwoordelijkheid nemen'
Toch is het gesprek bij veel Litouwers na de laatste ontwikkelingen opnieuw: wat als wij de volgende zijn? Al helemaal nu zelfs de Amerikaanse troepenaanwezigheid in de regio onzeker is geworden. "Persoonlijk vertrouw ik Amerika niet meer", zegt een gepensioneerde vrouw. "Europa zal op zichzelf moeten bouwen."
Al denken sommigen ook dat er iets goeds uit alles kan komen. Zo ook Darius, een 36-jarige steigerbouwer die eerder een paar jaar in Den Haag werkte. Met zijn zoon en dochtertje geniet hij van een vrije dag. "Ja, ik maak mij meer zorgen om mijn familie", zegt Darius. "Maar dit zal ons alleen maar sterker maken. Want elke burger van Litouwen moet zijn verantwoordelijkheid nemen, de wapens oppakken en bereid zijn ons land te verdedigen."

Just got word we have to terminate grants by COB today
This should be fun. Everyone's either already off today because it's their compressed day or they've gone home because most of my group starts early. Upper management tell us to terminate these specific grants (5 grants worth $125M total) at 3pm and expect it to be done by 5pm. No reason why and no rhyme as to why these grants.Doesn't matter that no one's here to actually do it. Doesn't matter that the government can't legally terminate grants unilaterally unless the grantee is in material noncompliance. Doesn't matter that our system isn't set up to approve an action without a 2nd person signing off on it (you know, separation of responsibilities.... so one person doesn't have unilateral authority to approve millions of dollars on their own).So I'm calling in contractors ($$) on their day off ($$$) to make a system wide change ($$$$) so that we can cancel a few random grants. All of which means the government will get sued ($$$$$) and we'll lose ($$$$$$) and we'll be right back where we started but we'll have to reissue these grants all over again ($$$$$$$). Totally efficient.

Ещё недавно я понял, что на проживание жизни можно посмотреть с двух разных сторон:
1) Жизнь как достижение целей
2) Жизнь как наслаждение процессом
(Насколько я знаю, западные культуры ориентируются больше на первый вариант, а восточные - на второй.)
Вроде я знал про это разделение и раньше, но сейчас как-будто вышел на новый уровень понимания, с которым я стал смотреть на вещи по другому. Думаю это можно назвать моим инсайтом.
Катализатором размышлений стала одна из глав книги Брене Браун "Дары несовершенства", а если точнее, та глава, в которой раскрывается понятие Игра. Я слушал книгу в аудиоверсии.
