The hydrocarbon hash I got doesn’t really smell like skunk. It’s the most pungent cured concentrate I’ve ever smelled. If I smelled it blind I would tell you it’s fresh frozen. It’s kind of like a strong chemically lemon cleaner with a little skunk funk. The nose on it is closer to Zoap To me. Its topnthree terpenes are all ADHD terpenes and an unusual body & head high combination. I completely understand why old folks miss Skunk #1. I haven’t had anything modern quite like this.

According to legend this strain all but went away in the states after the war on drugs because grow ops had to be more covert and they didn’t have modern charcoal filtration. It’s one of those strains the old heads would say they missed and that you can’t really find the original skunk. You can buy the seeds but it’s rare the find flower or hash on the legal market.

Skunk has the chemical property in skunk’s stink glad secretions. In Europe they don’t have skunks so a lot of the daughters of skunk are called cheese because aged cheese has the same chemical in lower concentrations. Many plants naturally produce it to ward off certain kinds of pests. It’s functional but it also has psychoactive effects that many people enjoy. These strains are much more popular in Europe than the states even though they originate from here.

I’ve been on this quest to track down the real OG strains as fresh frozen hash. A lot of these strains are not commercially viable so the people who grow them do it because they love the nostalgic high. Keeping one of these mothers is like restoring your childhood dream car.
Today I was in Mass visiting friends and I was looking through some local menus and saw Skunk #1 as a cured hash.
Skunk goes way back to the 70s and was Acapulco mixed with some afgani land race genetics.
