The work I do now is the way I've found to help others without hurting myself.
I'm a multiply-neurodivergent #GenX oldest daughter "hero child," and a lot of my life and energy has been focused on other peoples' needs.
With recovery work and deliberate practice putting my own oxygen mask on first, my desire to be a helper has never waned or changed. (My choices and skills to try to make that sustainable have grown.)
