Financial Times: 'Oekraïne en VS akkoord over deal Oekraïense grondstoffen'
Oekraïne heeft ingestemd met een grondstoffendeal met de Verenigde Staten. Dat meldt de Britse krant The Financial Times (FT), die onder meer sprak met vicepremier Stefanishyna. Ook de Oekraïense omroep Suspilne meldt dat er een akkoord is. Een bevestiging van Amerikaanse autoriteiten is er nog niet.
Volgens de FT staat in de overeenkomst dat Oekraïne en de VS samen grondstoffen gaan delven. Daar horen olie en gas bij, maar ook zeldzame mineralen.
Er zouden minder ongunstige voorwaarden zijn voor Oekraïne dan eerder door de Amerikanen werden genoemd. Zo zou Trumps eis om 500 miljard dollar aan zeldzame mineralen te krijgen, van tafel zijn.
Volgens de overeenkomst, die ingezien is door FT, wordt 50 procent van de opbrengsten van minerale grondstoffen in Oekraïne gestort in een fonds. Dat geld zou dan gebruikt worden om te investeren in toekomstige projecten in Oekraïne.
President Zelensky heeft eerder gezegd dat hij een handtekening zal zetten onder een grondstoffendeal als hij overtuigende veiligheidsgaranties en nieuwe militaire hulp van de VS krijgt. In het nu bereikte akkoord lijkt hierover echter niets te staan.
