I do think gold is more private than BTC.
I think BTCers look at armed guards and armored trucks as only a bad thing. Something that is easy to move can be a double edged sword.
For example, the ETH hack and all the other exchange attacks. To pull something like that off with gold or platinum would have taken a small army and much more difficult to pull off.

I keep getting financial industry people reaching out about this story to say how much fraud they are now seeing from peoples' payment card data being phished and loaded onto mobile wallets just by also phishing a one-time code out of victims.
One thing I think a lot of people are missing with this type of fraud is that while it is ideal for the phishers to coax that one-time code out of victims at the same time they are phishing the card data, it doesn't have to be that way.
What I'm getting at here is that this method of turning phished data into mobile wallets essentially allows card data that was previously only good for online transactions (i.e. it was stolen from an ecommerce vendor) to be "enriched" at any point going forward and turned into a mobile wallet.
In other words, the phishing of the one-time code sent by the victim's bank in response to a request to link their card to a mobile wallet can happen out of band, well after the fact, and under any pretext.

ICC-aanklager in Congo voor onderzoek naar oorlogsmisdaden rebellen
Hoofdaanklager Karim Khan van het Internationaal Strafhof in Den Haag (ICC) is afgereisd naar de Democratische Republiek Congo. "We maken ons grote zorgen over recente gebeurtenissen in Congo", zegt Khan. "Vooral de situatie in het oosten van het land is dringend." Er vielen dit jaar duizenden doden door geweld van rebellengroepen.
Het ICC onderzoekt sinds 2004 ernstige misdaden in Congo. Het strafhof begon ermee nadat de toenmalige regering om ingrijpen had gevraagd. In het onderzoek wordt gekeken naar verschillende rebellengroepen, de mogelijke betrokkenheid van het Congolese leger bij misdaden en de banden tussen het Rwandese leger en rebellengroep M23.
Het onderzoek richt zich op onder meer genocide, misdaden tegen de menselijkheid en oorlogsmisdaden. In het bijzonder worden misdaden onderzocht in de oostelijke provincie Noord-Kivu sinds januari 2022.
Khan kondigde in oktober vorig jaar al een onderzoek aan naar misdaden van rebellengroepen in Congo. Hij zei onafhankelijk onderzoek te zullen doen naar de betrokkenheid van verschillende partijen. "Met het oog op het waarborgen van gerechtigheid voor de slachtoffers", schreef Khan destijds.
Geweld in Oost-Congo
Sinds 2022 is M23 bezig aan een opmars in het oosten van Congo. Onderzoek van de VN laat zien dat de groep wordt gesteund door Rwanda.
De overname van de stad Goma in de provincie Noord-Kivu vorige maand was in het bijzonder gewelddadig. "Het is echt chaos", zei de Nederlandse VN-gezant Vivian van de Perre destijds in Goma over de humanitaire situatie. "Er liggen nog zo'n duizend doden in de straten. Er is geen water of elektriciteit, er zijn geen medische voorzieningen, geen internet, geen wifi."
De VN zei vorige week zich grote zorgen te maken over de humanitaire crisis in het oosten van het land.
Goma is met 2 miljoen inwoners de grootste stad in Oost-Congo en ligt in een provincie die rijk is aan kostbare mineralen en grondstoffen.
De burgers lijden enorm onder het geweld. Volgens Unicef zijn er 6,5 miljoen ontheemden in Oost-Congo, onder wie 2,5 miljoen kinderen. Ook maakt de humanitaire organisatie zich grote zorgen over de toename van het aantal gedwongen kindsoldaten. Volgens de regering van de Democratische Republiek Congo (DRC) zijn er sinds begin dit jaar 7000 mensen omgekomen door de opmars van M23.
Afrika-correspondent Elles van Gelder bezocht recent de bezette stad Goma:
Tijdens de strijd tussen het Congolese leger en de rebellen brak er brand uit bij een gevangenis, waardoor duizenden gevangenen wisten te ontsnappen. 132 vrouwen en 25 kinderen kwamen bij de brand om het leven, melden bronnen aan de BBC.
Een deel van de vrouwen in de Munzenze-gevangenis werd tijdens de uitbraak verkracht, onder wie de 22-jarige Pascaline. "Hij zei dat hij me zou vermoorden als ik probeerde te ontsnappen", vertelt ze aan de BBC. De aanval was zo gewelddadig dat ze het bewustzijn verloor.
Christenvervolging
M23 is nu de sterkste partij in het oosten van Congo, maar is daar niet de enige gewapende groep. Zo is ook de aan Islamitische Staat gelieerde ADF in het gebied actief.
Twee weken geleden werden volgens lokale bronnen 70 lichamen gevonden in een protestante kerk in het dorpje Kasanga in Noord-Kivu. De slachtoffers zouden allemaal christenen zijn uit het dorpje Mayba. De slachtoffers waren meegenomen naar de kerk en daar vermoord met machetes. Een lokale bron zei tegen Congolees persbureau 7sur7 dat de lichamen waren gekneveld. Vermoedelijk werd die dodelijke aanval uitgevoerd door ADF.
Zeven Nederlandse Kamerleden, onder wie SGP-lid Stoffer en JA21-lid Eerdmans, stelden vorige week Kamervragen over mogelijke christenvervolging in het oosten van Congo.

In my uni days we were so stoned coming back from Amsterdam that one of my mates forgot he had a bag of weed in his jeans pocket.
