No, I think it can be explained in part in, as with many other cases, that Hollywood is choked in "white guilt" and that 'transition' offers an escape hatch from the most disdained ethnicity/sex combo (white heterosexual 'cis' male) to one of the currently highest status configs (ie. trans-anything). It's also a shield against past wrongdoing because as we know, Hollywood is awash in rape and sexual abuse (Weinstein, Spacey, Cosby etc).
