Great question!
The author unfortunately didn't have a clear idea of all the causes, he was just able to recognize something fundamentally off about it all, and used Mayan civilization as a prime example, claiming that Mayans simply walked back into the jungle and never engaged in civilization building again (his claim, not mine.)
It confused me at the time of reading, and it deserves to be revisited again by me, armed with insight from Softwar. Looking forward to it!

C’est un des trucs les plus amusants avec elle : elle laisse toujours des messages cachés dans ses publications : la couleur de son vernis annonce un nouvel album, des images dans ses clips sont des références à des événements persos ou des albums / titres à venir, et du coup ses fans décodent absolument TOUT, il y a des théories complètement folles basées sur tout et rien (le nombre de noeuds sur ses tresses, la numérologie entre les dates de 2 publications… 😁). Je trouve ça complètement fou, et en même temps il y a des fois où les gens prédisent juste, c’est tellement amusant à suivre ça d’un peu loin / un peu près 😄

Actually, it really saddens me, but the media has convinced people that war is good. "War is peace" from 1984 basically. "Peace through strength" or whatever they call it.
This happened in WW1, exactly the same way. There was an arms race propped by the media... Nobody had any idea of what war really was. They had a completely different image.
And then WW1 happens, they're in the trenches and the sentiment changes.
Fast forward, traumatized people (like Hitler and friends) from WW1, cause WW2.
People have no philosophy or knowledge of history.
