One report suggests Starlink could obtain $10 billion to $20 billion under the new rules. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick criticized the Biden administration's handling of the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program in a statement yesterday. Lutnick said that "because of the prior Administration's woke mandates, favoritism towards certain technologies, and burdensome regulations, the program has not connected a single person to the Internet and is in dire need of a readjustment." The BEAD program was authorized by Congress in November 2021, and the US was finalizing plans to distribute funding before Trump's inauguration. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), part of the Commerce Department, developed rules for the program in the Biden era and approved initial funding plans submitted by every state and territory. The program has been on hold since the change in administration, with Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and other Republicans seeking rule changes. In addition to demanding an end to the fiber preference, Cruz wants to kill a requirement that ISPs receiving network-construction subsidies provide cheap broadband to people with low incomes. It’s not just you. It’s everyone on Nostr. Before my dad died, I was on here all the time and quick to respond, but after I’ve kind of been in and out. When I don’t go on nostr for a day or two, notifications can kind of pile up and it’s hard to get back to everyone because I’ve not been dedicating as much time to Nostr lately. Not because I don’t like Nostr and interacting with people, but because I’ve been doing more stuff in real life like visiting family and going back to yoga and what not. In my experience you need to read things--different perspectives on technical stuff--hundreds of times (over the course of years) before it really makes sense. I guess other people have their own ways of learning. But for me the first time I see something I read the words and think "ok.. yeah, got it.." Then years later I have some time to see examples of that thing (let's say, Heyting algebra, lambda theory, etc.) you reread another technical account (intro of a paper) and suddenly the words have this big narrative meaning that fits together in a way beyond just the flow of words on the page.

Apolut (Audio, Video & Artikel) Aktualisiert am März 6, 2025 Der Ukraine-Krieg dürfte noch lange weitergehen Von Thomas Röper Nachdem die EU auf die amerikanisch-russischen Gespräche mit der Ankündigung einer massiven Aufrüstung und dem Versprechen, den Krieg gegen Russland notfalls auch ohne US-Unterstützung weiterzuführen, reagiert hat, scheint man in Russland nicht von einem baldigen Kriegsende auszugehen und bereitet offenbar eine neue Offensive vor. Ein Kommentar von Thomas Röper. Bei vielen herrschte nach den ersten Gesprächen zwischen den USA und Russland Optimismus vor, dass der Krieg in der Ukraine bald enden würde. Offenbar war das verfrüht, wie die aktuellen Meldungen zeigen und wie meine Quellen bestätigen. In Russland scheint man nicht von einem baldigen Ende des Krieges auszugehen, sondern sogar eine Eskalation des Krieges mit Europa nicht auszuschließen. Natürlich ist derzeit alles in Bewegung und beispielsweise Trumps Rede vor dem Kongress und Selenskys angeblicher Brief an Trump haben die Hoffnung entstehen lassen, ein Ende der Kämpfe in der Ukraine könne greifbar sein. Andererseits klingen die Meldungen über eine massive Aufrüstung Europas ( https://anti-spiegel.ru/2025/versprochen-gebrochen-der-schuldenwahnsinn-von-cdu-und-spd-fuer-aufruestung/ ) und Macrons Rede ( https://anti-spiegel.ru/2025/macrons-rede-an-die-nation-klingt-wie-kriegserklaerung-an-russland/ ) an die Nation ganz anders und lassen vermuten, dass die Europäer den Krieg in der Ukraine gegen Russland notfalls auch ohne die USA weiterführen wollen. Die amerikanisch-russischen Gespräche Dass Optimismus für ein baldiges Ende der Kämpfe in der Ukraine verfrüht war, zeigten die Kommentare der russischen Regierung zu den Gesprächen mit den USA. Auch wenn Trump davon redet, ein Kriegsende könne nah sein, klingt das in Russland anders. Russische Vertreter bis hin zu Präsident Putin erklärten zu den Gesprächen mit der US-Regierung, dass dabei praktisch nicht über einen möglichen Waffenstillstand in der Ukraine gesprochen wurde, sondern dass es bei den Gesprächen in erster Linie um die russisch-amerikanischen Beziehungen und um einen Wiederaufbau des zerstörten Vertrauens gegangen sei. Das ist auch logisch, denn nach den vielen Wortbrüchen der USA unter Präsidenten wie Clinton (z. B. NATO-Osterweiterung), Bush Jr. (z. B. Unterstützung von Islamisten in Tschetschenien durch die USA oder Kündigung des ABM-Vertrages), Obama (z. B. Wortbrüche beim Maidan 2014) und Biden (z. B. Verstöße gegen die Verpflichtungen aus dem NEW-START-Vertrag ( https://anti-spiegel.ru/2022/wie-die-usa-die-atomare-ruestungskontrolle-sabotieren/ )) ist das Vertrauen zwischen Russland und den USA auf dem Nullpunkt. Wenn man etwas in Verhandlungen erreichen will, muss zunächst zumindest ein grundlegendes Vertrauen aufgebaut werden, dass sich beide Seiten auch an Absprachen und Verträge halten. Das war offensichtlich der Sinn der bisherigen Gespräche zwischen Russland und den USA, wobei es wohl auch um eine mögliche Wiederbelebung der Wirtschaftsbeziehungen gegangen ist. Es gibt noch reichlich andere Themen, über die mit der Zeit gesprochen werden dürfte. Genannt wurde der Nahost-Konflikt oder auch der Konflikt der USA mit China. Es gibt also viele Themen, die für die USA und Russland von Interesse sind und die verschiedenen Meldungen zufolge angesprochen wurden. Über die Ukraine wurde, nach allem was bekannt ist, offenbar bestenfalls am Rande geredet. Übrigens habe ich von einer Quelle, die mit Mitgliedern der russischen Delegation gesprochen hat, erfahren, dass die US-Vertreter mit ihrer sehr offenen Abneigung gegen Selensky nicht hinter dem Berg gehalten haben sollen, weshalb dieser Gesprächspartner von mir über den Streit zwischen Trump und Selensky vor laufenden Kameras zwar durchaus belustigt, aber nicht allzu überrascht war. Die Reaktion der Europäer Dass die USA ihre Unterstützung für Kiew einstellen könnten, war seit dem Wahlsieg von Donald Trump, allgemein erwartet und in Europa befürchtet worden. Nach dem öffentlichen Streit zwischen Trump und Selensky im Weißen Haus war das nur noch eine Frage der Zeit und wurde inzwischen vom Weißen Haus offiziell verkündet, auch wenn bisher von einer vorübergehenden Einstellung der Waffenlieferungen zur „Überprüfung“ die Rede ist. Seit Trumps Wiederwahl war die Frage, die ich hier oft gestellt habe, daher, wie die Europäer reagieren, wenn Trump die US-Hilfen einstellt. Würden die Europäer sich dem beugen und eine amerikanisch-russische Einigung akzeptieren? Oder würden die Europäer versuchen, den Krieg gegen Russland in der Ukraine alleine weiterzuführen? Die Frage scheint beantwortet zu sein, wenn man all die Erklärungen aus Europa nach dem Streit im Weißen Haus ernst nimmt. Die EU, Frankreich, Großbritannien, Deutschland und andere Länder haben verkündet, die Ukraine auch ohne die USA weiter unterstützen zu wollen. Viele dieser Erklärungen waren geradezu orwellsch, denn die dänische Ministerpräsidentin hat beispielsweise verkündet, ein Frieden wäre für die Ukraine (und Europa) schlimmer als eine Fortsetzung des Krieges. Was bedeutet das? Wenn die Europäer tatsächlich entschlossen sein sollten, den Krieg gegen Russland auch ohne die USA fortzusetzen, dann würden Verhandlungen Russlands mit den USA über ein Kriegsende kaum Sinn machen, weil Kiew sich dem Ergebnis mit Unterstützung der Europäer widersetzen würde. Schließlich will Selensky die Fortsetzung des Krieges vielleicht mehr als alle anderen. Dabei ist es nicht einmal ausgeschlossen, dass Trump auf genau so eine Entwicklung setzt. Es sei daran erinnert, dass Trump sich stets für Aufträge für die US-Rüstungsindustrie stark gemacht hat, weshalb es kaum vorstellbar ist, dass Trump es verbieten würde, wenn die Europäer in den USA Waffen bestellen, um sie an Kiew weiterzugeben. Trump könnte sich in den USA dabei als der präsentieren, der es geschafft hat, die USA aus dem Ukraine-Abenteuer herauszuholen. Wenn die Europäer danach weiterkämpfen wollen, kann Trump das verurteilen, aber sich darauf berufen, dass er nichts dafür kann. Diese Rolle, sich aus teuren Konflikten herauszuhalten, aber kräftig Waffen zu liefern und daran zu verdienen, haben die USA in beiden Weltkriegen sehr erfolgreich gespielt, und sich erst selbst militärisch engagiert, als die Kriegsparteien geschwächt waren und die USA mit relativ geringen Verlusten eingreifen und die Profite des Krieges einstreichen konnten. Es ist nicht ausgeschlossen, dass Trump eine ähnliche Strategie zumindest nicht ausschließt und sich alle Türen offen hält. Sollen sich die Europäer mit den Russen ruhig gegenseitig schwächen, während die USA als lachender Dritter am Rande stehen und, sollte sich die Gelegenheit ergeben, zu einem günstigen Punkt in den Konflikt eingreifen. Nehmen wir also einmal an, die USA ziehen sich aus dem Ukraine-Abenteuer zurück und beenden die Zusammenarbeit mit Kiew komplett, um mit dem Ukraine-Abenteuer nichts mehr zu tun zu haben. Die USA einigen sich mit Russland bei einigen anderen Themen, beispielsweise bei Fragen im Nahen Osten, aber die USA ziehen sich von der offen anti-russischen Haltung zurück, während sie die Europäer in der Ukraine weiterkämpfen lassen. Wie könnte es dann weiter gehen? Alles hängt jetzt von den Europäern ab Alles, was ich nun schreibe, ist spekulativ, aber es gibt eigentlich nicht viele Möglichkeiten. Wenn die Europäer doch noch zur Vernunft kommen und verstehen sollten, dass es bei einer Fortsetzung des Krieges gegen Russland für sie nichts zu gewinnen, aber viel zu verlieren gibt, dann hätte sich die Sache erledigt und der Weg wäre frei für einen Frieden. Danach sieht es aber nicht aus, wenn man all den aggressiven Erklärungen aus Frankreich, Großbritannien und auch Deutschland zuhört. Die klingen danach, als wollten sie den Krieg gegen Russland um – buchstäblich – jeden Preis fortsetzen. Die dänische Ministerpräsidentin hält einen Frieden in der Ukraine für schlimmer als einen Krieg, der französische Präsident sprach sich gegen den Waffenstillstand in der Ukraine aus und sagte, dass Frieden „nicht um jeden Preis und unter russischem Diktat geschaffen werden kann, noch kann er eine Kapitulation der Ukraine sein“. Der künftige deutsche Kanzler Merz fordert die Stationierung französischer Atomwaffen in Deutschland und will hunderte Milliarden für Rüstung ausgeben. EU-Kommissionschefin von der Leyen spricht von einer neuen „Ära der Militarisierung Europas“. Und so weiter und so fort. Die Europäer wollen die Chance, den Krieg gesichtswahrend zu beenden, indem sie sich auf das Ende der amerikanischen Unterstützung für die Ukraine berufen, offenbar nicht ergreifen. Ob den lauten Worten der Europäer danach auch Taten folgen, werden die nächsten Wochen zeigen. Aber spielen wir mal die Variante durch, die Europäer würden das wirklich ernst meinen, was dann? Die Ukraine blutet aus Bisher sind die Europäer offiziell noch nicht bereit, Truppen in den Kampf gegen Russland zu schicken. Der französische Präsident Macron und der britische Premierminister Starmer sprechen jedoch ständig von der Entsendung von Truppen und der Bildung einer „Koalition der Willigen“ dafür. Aber dabei machen sie widersprüchliche Aussagen, denn mal wollen sie erst nach einem Waffenstillstand „Friedenstruppen“ schicken (wobei man sich fragt, wie das gehen soll, wenn sie sich gleichzeitig so vehement gegen eine Waffenstillstand aussprechen), mal reden sie davon, schon bald Truppen in die Westukraine zu schicken, die allerdings nicht an der Front zum Einsatz kommen sollen (wobei man sich fragt, was die Truppen dann überhaupt dort sollen). Das Problem ist, dass die Ukraine ausblutet. Sie hat einen gigantischen Mangel an Soldaten und wenn sie den Krieg weiterführen will, dann muss sie demnächst alle Männer ab 18 Jahren einberufen. Die allerdings könnte man aus Zeitmangel kaum vernünftig ausbilden, sodass sie die komplizierten westlichen Waffen kaum anständig beherrschen würden. Sie wären reines Kanonenfutter, mit dem Kiew sich Zeit erkaufen kann, mehr nicht. Kommen europäische Soldaten? Wenn die Europäer den Krieg also weiterführen wollen, müssen sie irgendwann (und wahrscheinlich recht bald) eigene Soldaten in die Ukraine schicken. Oder sie müssten einen totalen russischen Sieg anerkennen, wonach es aber beim besten Willen nicht aussieht, weil sie jetzt, wo es noch etwas zu verhandeln gibt, ja nicht einmal mit Russland verhandeln wollen. Da Trump ganz sicher keinen Krieg mit Russland riskieren wird, ist davon auszugehen, dass wir dann über einen Krieg einer „Koalition der Willigen", also einzelner europäischer Staaten (aber eben nicht der NATO), gegen Russland sprechen. Und zwar mit allen daraus resultierenden Folgen. Das würde übrigens auch erklären, warum die Polen plötzlich so zurückhaltend geworden sind und ständig erklären, sie würden keine Truppen in die Ukraine schicken. Ein Blick auf die Landkarte erklärt das: Wenn Polen sich nicht daran beteiligt, wäre es nicht mit Russland im Krieg und würde als neutraler Staat zwischen beispielsweise Frankreich und Russland liegen. Das würde bedeuten, dass der Krieg an Russlands Grenze, aber weit weg von der französischen Grenze geführt würde. Polen wäre ein Puffer zum Schutz der europäischen Länder, die Soldaten in die Ukraine schicken wollen. Ist ein europäischer Krieg realistisch? Man muss sich in die Köpfe der Entscheidungsträger in Europa versetzen. Erstens sind die meisten davon überzeugte Anti-Russen, zweitens stehen sie vor einem riesigen Problem. Stellen wir uns einmal vor, die Ukraine führt eine totale Mobilmachung auch der 18-jährigen durch und die Europäer setzen ihre Pläne um, demnächst weitere hunderte Milliarden in den Krieg zu pumpen, was zwangsläufig auf Kosten von Sozialleistungen und der Wirtschaft in den europäischen Ländern gehen wird. Die Menschen in Europa würden also sehr bald einen schmerzlichen Rückgang ihres Lebensstandards spüren. Wenn dann beispielsweise nach einem weiteren Jahr auch die 18-jährigen Ukrainer in so großer Zahl gefallen sind, dass die Front endgültig zusammenbricht – wie werden dann die europäischen Entscheidungsträger reagieren? Ist es realistisch, dass sie sich vor ihre Wähler stellen und verkünden „Sorry, dumm gelaufen, Euer Geld ist weg, aber nun müssen wir uns doch mit Russland einigen“? Wohl kaum, sie werden eher, wie Selensky heute, den Krieg um jeden Preis fortsetzen wollen, um nicht für das Fiasko zur Verantwortung gezogen zu werden. Im besten Fall würden sie nur abgewählt, aber da praktisch alle europäischen Mainstream-Parteien für den Ukraine-Krieg getrommelt haben, wäre es möglich, dass bei Wahlen ganz andere Parteien gewinnen, die dann vielleicht auch eine juristische Aufarbeitung der Geschichte wollen. Es könnte für die europäischen Entscheidungsträger also um sehr viel mehr gehen als nur um verlorene Wahlen und verlorene Posten. Aus diesem Grund bin ich so pessimistisch. Wenn die Europäer nicht in den nächsten Wochen zur Vernunft kommen, dann könnten sie sich in eine Situation manövrieren, in der sie nur noch die Möglichkeit haben, den Krieg mit Russland um wirklich jeden Preis fortzusetzen. Und wenn Selensky einknickt? Nachdem es die Meldungen gegeben hat, die auch Trump in seiner Rede an die Nation befeuert hat, Selensky habe Trump einen Brief geschrieben, in dem er Verhandlungsbereitschaft unter der Führung von Trump angeboten habe, gab es verhaltenen Optimismus, denn wenn Kiew sich unter Trumps Regie mit Russland einigt, dann hätten die europäischen Kriegstreiber keine Möglichkeit mehr, in der Ukraine gegen Russland Krieg zu führen. Aber die Meldungen stellten sich schnell als falsch heraus, Selensky hatte keinen Brief geschickt, sondern nur einen Post auf X abgesetzt. Es war keine offiziell verkündete Verhandlungsbereitschaft und die von der US-Regierung geforderte Entschuldigung für den Skandal im Weißen Haus fehlte völlig. Dass Selensky verhandeln will, ist ausgeschlossen, wie er in den letzten drei Jahren deutlich gezeigt hat. Selensky würde den Krieg natürlich weiterführen, wenn die Europäer ihm dazu die Gelegenheit geben. Und das scheinen sie ja tun zu wollen. Was ich in Russland gehört habe All diese Gedanken habe ich mir in den letzten Tagen gemacht und ich bekam gewisse Bestätigungen dafür, dass auch in Russland viele in der Regierung nicht an einen baldigen Frieden glauben. Dafür gibt es indirekte Bestätigungen, denn Unternehmer melden, dass sie vom Verteidigungsministerium Aufträge bekommen, die nach der Lieferung von Baumaterial für den weiteren Bau von Befestigungen aussehen. Von der Front habe ich gehört, dass Kommandeure angewiesen werden, Reserven an Personal und Gerät, vor allem Drohnen, aufzubauen. Das klingt nicht danach, als würde man in Russland an ein baldiges Ende der Kämpfe glauben, sondern es klingt danach, als bereite man sich auf weitere, lang andauernde Kämpfe oder sogar eine Offensive vor. Und danach sieht es aus, denn in russischen Medien ist immer öfter von einer möglichen russischen Frühjahrsoffensive die Rede, während die ukrainische Armee auch so schon überall im Donbass und auch in Kursk auf dem Rückzug ist. Keine guten Aussichten All das lässt befürchten, dass die Europäer keinen Frieden mit Russland wollen, sondern notfalls sogar zum offenen Krieg mit Russland bereit sind. Und Selensky ist dabei ein williger Helfer. Sollte Russland eine erfolgreiche Offensive starten und beispielsweise in Richtung Kiew oder Odessa vorstoßen, weil die ukrainische Armee so schwach ist und Kiew keine Verhandlungen will, dann dürfte das Auftauchen der Truppen einer europäischen „Koalition der Willigen“ in der Ukraine nur eine Frage der Zeit sein. Das wiederum, daran hat in Russland nie jemand einen Zweifel gelassen, würde einen offenen Krieg Russlands mit den Ländern bedeuten, die Truppen in die Ukraine schicken.
