In Londen heeft een man ruim zestien uur op de Big Ben gezeten. De man klom gisterochtend met een Palestijnse vlag langs de richel omhoog in de toren van het Palace of Westminster.
De Londense politie kreeg rond 07.30 uur lokale tijd een melding van het incident. Pas rond middernacht lukte het de hulpdiensten om de man met een hoogwerker van de toren te halen.
De politie heeft de hele dag met de man onderhandeld. Hij dreigde hoger te klimmen als de hulpdiensten dichterbij zouden komen. Vanwege het incident was de Westminster Bridge de hele dag gesloten en werden er ook geen rondleidingen gegeven in het parlement. De actie van de man trok de hele dag veel bekijks.
