Maybe one day we can finally change this.
Its a pain to get a new app there, but applications showing full screen ads can stay at the play store forever and nothing happens to them.
Every month I have to remove some of those apps from my parents phone because instead of using the files apps from the os they try to install App cleaners from the Play store

I give a 25% - 50% chance however that at some point in the next few years, there will be an act in the U.S. Congress, or a big court cases, that reduces the ability of Google and Apple to censor apps. There's also the "progressive web app" thing which so far, as I can tell, is a disappointment, because you don't get access to the APIs you really need -- but it's possible that this matures into something more powerful.

Your bitcoin deserves BANK-LEVEL security
Think about a bank.
Think about how much security a bank has to protect its capital.
The difference between you (storing bitcoin) and the bank (storing fiat dollars):
1. The bank has insurance on the dollars and can easily replace if they are stolen
2. The bank is protecting other people's money
3. The bank is protecting an asset that can be printed out of thin air
Moral of the story - not only do you need BANK-LEVEL security, you actually need MUCH HIGHER security than a bank.
Would you leave a briefcase with 10M in cash sitting on your kitchen table?
So why would you leave your 12 word recovery phrase (in plain text) laying around your house?

I don't really know what people use. I've seen Discord, iMessage, Whatsapp, Facebook. Barely any Signal, but that's what I prefer. My family is on Whatsapp.

The problem is I can't link my nostr account and I want to. That's what I mean with "a functioning account". I got past the account creation problem by using a different e-mail but because my first account creation got bugged l can't use certain features on a working account.
