its undeniable that demand for BTC bootstrapped the network. That demand was certainly largely hodlers.
So there is an argument that "hodling is using bc it creates demand"
unfortunately things aren't static.
with every halving it becomes more and more important that MoE use increases.
its hard to see how that would EVER happen if the dominant view is that the purchasing power of each sat will only increase.
I'd suggest those conditions incentivize fiat loans and other services that enable hodlers to keep their capital but still reap the benefits of having it.
it just a theory
but are we also going to call taking out a USD loan against a utxo "using bitcoin?"

just consider the fact that a standard compression algorithm applied to a repository of C code has a greater compression ratio than the same code (keep it simple, let's say it's a transcendental math library) versus the C version, has so much better compression

But as we see with other finite assets (like real estate)
people don't sell them to enjoy the value of their capital.
They take out loans against them.
a network that encourages hodling,
and a culture that believes the value of their capital will only ever increase ,
will not sell.
In fact they are highly incentivized to develop a fiat layer to abstract their asset.

We always attach a wallet to the music since thats how V4V music works but most of those sats are probably just setting there in a wallet but thats nothing new in Bitcoin. "Hey didnt I have some of that stuff on a HDD somewhere"
When Alby switched to AlbyHub we had to have everyone using Alby get a Fountain wallet and that was like pulling teeth and some bands we still haven't heard back from. It was hard enough to get them to sign up for one wallet yet do it again. Not to mention all the RSS feeds that needed updated.

Monero makes *different tradeoffs* than bitcoin.
"better" is a subjective assessment.
transactions are larger, so it doesn't scale as well.
but it hides sender, receiver and amount by default.
there is constant in pereptua emission,
but that supply inflation is lower than gokds and guarentees network security in the future.
the protocol is still being updated, which could be an attack vector,
but it responds and adjusts to the changing environment and circumstances it exists in.
so its up to everyone to DYOR and decide whats "better" for themselves.
generally the trade-offs monero makes lends itself to more MoE useage than Bitcoin.
