IMHO (I know a lot about os dev just trust me) I think we should stop trying to put Rust in the Linux Kernel. I think someone should start building a Linux clone with Rust as a separate project. Make user space compatible with existing binaries and may the best project win.

definitely, right now I’ve got a control center button to open the app, but I plan to expand the functionality through other widgets and stuff, the actual app itself isn’t necessarily the important part, it’s about getting the most relevant info to you right now
I don’t intend this to fully replace your main weather app, but more focus on “I’m about to step outside, what’s the weather right now” kinda thing

This is all pretty brand new, so expect updates that keep making it better. I’ll keep doing what I can to push it along as well. I know lots of people who are working to make this all much easier and more ubiquitous. I think there will be a point in the coming year where enough has finally reached a stable production level that this starts to proliferate really quickly. Then comes the time where we can easily connect any and all of our devices together for any reason, and it seems weird that it didn’t just always work like this.

I always thought coffee didn't affect me, but I realized I was completely wrong about that.
The fact is, during the week, I drink A LOT of coffee at the office, and the day goes by normally; I don't feel anything different.
But on weekends, when I don't make a cup of coffee in the morning (out of sheer laziness), I spend the whole day feeling unmotivated, sleepy, and wanting to crawl into bed and sleep until the next day.
Yeah... it looks like coffee not only affects me, but I'm already addicted to it!

My answer might be tricky. I don't want the current AI architecture (Transformers) to define the future of LLMs or ML, that would be disastrous. We need a breakthrough!
It's not that I can't live without it, but AI has countless potential use cases across fields like computer science, medicine, and space exploration. It's already penetrating every industry, these new generative models being just a part of it.
That's why I believe it's crucial to shape AI for a better, less centralized future.
What amazes me is how the open-source community has kept pace with frontier models. If OpenAI disappeared tomorrow, we could still rebuild up to GPT-4o using just open-source models.
I hope it makes sense 😅, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

It depends on their nodes. Typically opening channels is not disabled (bigger nodes require a minimum size often)
The two nodes communicate with each other. No human interaction is involved there.

Damus is a public relay, spammers can still send notes 6 times every minute. If you *never* want to see spam the best option is likely all paid relays, but that will be a bubble.
Ive talked about an option before where you can have a global switch that turns off non-paid relays across the entire UI, lots of things we can still do. Hardest thing is to make it intuitive for users.

You can open channels to nodes that are available through the public internet (not Tor).
Just enter the details (e.g. you can get those also from an explorer like amboss) and open the channel for a certain amount.

Agreed. This is why I don't want diesel or propane setup; still reliant on distribution of energy source. Plus the cost is far more than just efficiently using local electric/natgas grid
My personal numbers for natgas grid costs per is $0.025/kWh! Need to get that setup ASAP
(This is me, running a General, hooked up to local natgas grid). So still reliant on distribution but much more resilient than on-grid electric.
