I’ve always been into sport, family, active living but now that I’ve massively reduced my alcohol intake in 2025, I’ve come to realise that a) I was drinking way too much before and b) I was not operating anywhere near peak performance.
Think you need to be at least 2 weeks booze free to start seeing the positive effects. 1 month better.
Not saying I’ll never have a glass of red wine again, but max 3-4 times per year. And that’ll be a glass as opposed to polishing the bottle.
The future is bright. Marathon and KB swing annual reps PBs coming this year.

De Gran Fondo is een wedstrijd voor profs en amateurs en startte op de stuwdam van het meer van l'Eau d'Heure in het zuiden van België. Er deden volgens de organisatie zo'n 2500 wielrenners mee, die in groepen na elkaar vertrokken. Bij de Gran Fondo fietsen de deelnemers individueel tegen de klok en niet tegen elkaar.
Fietsen gebroken
De valpartij ontstond in het peloton van de eerste twee startgroepen, na ruim acht kilometer. Op beelden van de Vlaamse krant HLN is te zien dat er veel renners in de berm zitten. De oorzaak van de valpartij is nog niet bekend.
"Het was pure chaos", zegt een van de deelnemers tegen de VRT. "Sommige fietsen waren gebroken, mensen lagen langs de kant van de weg en er waren ongeveer vijf ambulances aanwezig."
