The Department of Justice (DOJ) on April 21 announced that 27 alleged members or affiliates of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA) had been charged under legislation designed to bring down criminal enterprises.

The allegations against those charged included committing robberies and shootings, sex trafficking and organized prostitution of women brought into the United States illegally from Venezuela, robbing and extorting small businesses, and trafficking a drug called “tusi,” which contains ketamine, that the DOJ described as the gang’s “calling card” in a https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/27-members-or-associates-tren-de-aragua-charged-racketeering-narcotics-sex-trafficking
announcing the charges.
The indictments were filed against those suspected to be current members of TdA, which is designated a terrorist organization by the federal government, and members of “Anti-Tren,” a group the DOJ said is largely composed of past TdA members.
The DOJ said the case is part of “Operation Take Back America,” described as “a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Justice Department to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.”
The case fits into President Donald Trump’s broader hardline stance against gangs like TdA and MS-13.
Attorney General Pam Bondi also released a statement on the indictment, saying, “Tren de Aragua is not just a street gang—it is a highly structured terrorist organization that has destroyed American families with brutal violence, engaged in human trafficking, and spread deadly drugs through our communities.”
Bondi said that the indictments and arrests made in connection with the case spanned three states and that they’re poised to “devastate TdA’s infrastructure.”
The federal law being used to charge the more than two dozen individuals, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), was introduced in the late 20th century as a measure to break up the mob. However, it’s broad enough to permit widespread application to any type of corrupt organization.
To convict under RICO, prosecutors must prove that one or more “enterprises”—meaning any organization dedicated to an end goal, whether corporate or criminal—engaged in a pattern of criminal behavior. Specific federal charges are eligible for prosecution under RICO, and any RICO case must involve at least two of those charges being committed within a 10-year period.
RICO is an indictment even hardened criminals have come to fear, as its specific mechanisms allow prosecutors to charge far more liberally, and with far harsher prison sentences, than in many other types of criminal proceedings.
To meet the law’s requirements of the definition of an “enterprise,” which must be dedicated to one or many end goals, the DOJ broadly defined the goal of TdA as “preserving and protecting the power and territory of TdA and its members and associates through acts involving murder, assault, robbery, other acts of violence, and threats of violence.”
Additionally, the DOJ said TdA sought to “[enrich] the members and associates of TdA” through sex trafficking young women into Peru and the United States, trafficking controlled substances, and armed robbery.
Six of those affiliated with the mainline TdA were indicted.
The other 21 involved members of Anti-Tren, which operated in multiple New York City boroughs, including the Bronx and Queens, and in New Jersey, and elsewhere. The DOJ said its members are “almost exclusively” former TdA members who broke away.
The justification for the Anti-Tren indictments under RICO is identical to that given for TdA.
Xavier Donaldson, an attorney representing one of the defendants, declined to comment. Other lawyers listed on the court docket for defendants did not return inquiries.
The charges come amid an ongoing dispute between the United States, El Salvador, and Venezuela over the handling of Venezuelan nationals convicted and deported by the Trump administration.
Under a $6 million agreement between the United States and El Salvador, many of those deported have been housed at El Salvador’s CECOT prison.
Venezuela’s socialist regime, which currently detains several dissidents recognized internationally as political prisoners, claimed that deported Venezuelan gang members detained at CECOT were themselves political prisoners.
On April 20, Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele proposed a swap of all Venezuelans currently in Salvadoran custody in exchange for an identical number of Venezuela’s anti-regime political prisoners.
Venezuela has rejected the deal and called for the immediate and unconditional release of detained Venezuelans.

Depending on how large some of the mods get it might be worth attempting to use torrents. since they are much better for larger files.
IMO the only reason to build on top of blossom instead of torrents is if you know the files are going to be small (cat pictures) and they NEED to work in the web browser. otherwise if you building a desktop app it would probably be much better with torrents

Aqui, se as pessoas se desentendem uma única vez, elas nunca mais olham na sua cara (isso quando não fazem doxing, ameaças de morte ou coisa ainda pior). Aliás, você não precisava nem ter trocado sua foto de perfil. Depois posso explicá-lo o porquê por DM.
É que eu praticamente não uso o WhatsApp. Esqueci que há essa configuração que permite escolher com quem queremos compartilhar o status. Então, de fato, realmente não faz muito sentido o aviso.
Você tem conta no Discord? Hoje eu vim trabalhar virado, nem dormi à noite. Passei a madrugada inteira conversando com as "coelhinhas" por lá (Kelinci, Lea e Emma, pessoas que conheci no IRC/Twitter, longa história). Deu 6 da manhã, eu fiz o café e me mandei. Há coisas incríveis acontecendo nos bastidores da Internet. Essa semana postarei algumas novidades (autorizado, claro).
O pior é que às vezes eu fico puto pra cacete com elas. O que eu vou falar agora pode soar um pouco machista, mas nesses casos (você saberá em breve) eu prefiro lidar com homens. Mulheres e pessoas trans parecem ter sangue de barata. Elas têm um granada nas mãos, estão sendo atacadas, e simplesmente se recusam a apertar a porra do pino.
Mas de todo modo, também fui convencido de que o Nostr não é seguro. O próprio Pamplona já jogou essa letra certa vez ("ninguém deveria ter apenas uma chave e tal"). Elas, inclusive, sabem as NSECs de alguns usuários bem conhecidos do Nostr Brasil. Não divulgam literalmente porque não querem, por pena ou simplesmente por respeito à tal "ética hacker". Soube que há muitos menores de idade aqui, na faixa dos 17 anos, até isso elas sabem.
Teve um momento do chat que eu as desafiei, criei uma conta, a acessei pela extensão nos2x, conforme elas pediram, e elas revelaram a NSEC da conta que eu havia acabado de criar🤣 . Quando não há uma empresa por trás, tudo fica muito mais frágil. E elas são profissionais, assim como acredito que Jack Dorsey e Fiatjaf também sejam, então estamos todos fodidos.
A única coisa que eu posso garantir é que sei que elas são boas pessoas, todas têm um bom coração e, pelo que conheço, não prejudicarão newbies ou pessoas inofensivas.

Tive uma ideia aqui:
As áreas mais pobres e subdesenvolvidas do Brasil deveriam ser organizadas por um "administrador geral" ao invés de prefeitos e vereadores. Que ficaria um período de 10 anos, com possibilidade de renovação, em caso de eficiência comprovada (até a região se estabelecer).
De preferência, um administrador que seja de fora da região que comanda (evitando a policagem interna e as ligações com o centrão) e que seja formado em economia ou ciências políticas.
Este administrador seria indicado por algum ministério, sem o uso de eleições populares. A população destas regiões não tem estudo e nem qualificação para decidir questões tão complicadas, como a política. Por conta disso são reféns da politicagem de oportunistas.
E não haveria tirania ou abuso de poder porque este administrador seguiria as mesmas leis que todos seguem. E não faltaria oposição para apontar o dedo se ele fizer algo muito errado.
No caso da criminalidade: a polícia teria uma ação menos burocrática, sem precisar avisar vários órgãos públicos para agir (respondendo diretamente para a hierarquia da própria polícia, que responde ao próprio estado em caso de excessos).
Óbvio que isso requer uma mudança na constituição.

You make a good point. When I first heard the term citadel, I also associated it with a kind of negative, bunker like image, but it was the word everyone was using to describe the idea, so I just went with it. I’d definitely be open to calling it something else if there’s a better fit.
I hadn’t considered smart cities as a direct threat to citadels, but you’re right: centralized systems could absorb isolated ones if we’re not careful. Any real alternative would need to include safeguards against that kind of takeover.
In my original post, I only talked about one citadel because even building a single one feels like a huge goal. But if I ever pull it off, I’d absolutely want to help others build their own. I imagine I’d always call the first one; probably near my hometown, “home,” but the vision goes beyond that. I’m passionate about the whole idea, and I want to help others to experience it too if I can!

Imagine these trees being food bearing sources in reciprocity of the govt caretaking with existing taxpayer funds and giving back to the community in a nourishing manner.
Meaning - a sense of presence, care & value in where one chooses to reside. 🔱
