yeah, idk if 64 is much better than 32, maybe if the memory is faster, but i'm not upgrading for a while yet, this should be good for another couple years i reckon, then i'll get DDR5 memory, but probably not 128, i don't see the point
all it really does is make it take longer for badly written code to blow up and get OOM killed, that was a huge problem in the first attempt i made at forking khatru, and eventually fiatjaf figured out it was a bug he made, i couldn't find it so i just switched to relayer which was much better written - but i see utxo pimping his WoT relays built off it so i guess the bug got fixed but i'd already moved on
and anyway i ended up massively trimming down the relayer architecture, just tonight noticed that there was an assload of repeated code and one of the interfaces wasn't even being used anymore that it was tied to... and that was the main thing i was trying to do with my failed refactor of the last week... ironic

yeah, i had a 32gb pc back in 2018 and in 2020 it was basically stolen from me... was a great rig for doing programming... and a 24" 4k display as well, those cunts... it did have a nvidia 1080 too... i like to game sometimes and i hate shitty slowness... though for the price the rx7800xt i got isn't exactly amazing, good though, a lot of older games run at over 80fps in 4k which is nice... plus the new display is QD-OLED at 240hz, i have got quite used to having high frame rates, 60hz now is beyond painful, 75 is bearable like the cheap panel i have on the side for browsing/logwatching

yeah, verifying it, the setting was necessary to make it behave in the 2gb memory on the VPS, on my pc it doesn't do this stalling thing that it was doing on the vps
i think that may actually have been the main problem i was having with the other refactored version... because a lot of those changes now are in the realy repo so, meh, shrug, it works, carry on
i get quite agitated when my relay seems to be buggin, really makes me tense

- fix: addresses an issue where some Cashu wallets would crash when redeeming their first token. If you were affected by this bug, try removing the mint in question and re-adding it with the 'Existing funds' toggle enabled. FUNDS ARE SAFU!
- feat: Core Lightning: show closed channels list
- Locale updates
Notes:
- Cashu wallets are tied to Embedded LND wallets. Enable under Settings > Ecash
- Other wallet types can still sweep funds from Cashu tokens
- ZEUS Pay now supports Cashu address types. You can switch between Zaplocker, Cashu, and NWC mode but can only use one at a time.
- Atomic swaps are not featured in this build. Stay tuned!

i think i finally may have figured out the main problem that was going on with #realy on my VPS...
it has a memory limiting setting that was set to 1gb and idk for what reason, it seemed to stall and get stuck, yet if i turned it down to the default, 250mb, it runs much better... mysterious runtime variables... probably would even be better to not mess with them but i figured put it there to hint to the GC to try and keep the pile small and sweep it in little bursts to help performance on low spec hardware... it probably doesn't matter making that value bigger on my dev box because it has 64gb of memory and it could garbage up a lot more than it probably is, but performance is much the same

charcoal is all that is really needed tho, but you still have to melt it, and best not to do that with your body in any case... if you got a gas cooker then that's better than trying to scrape together a fire in the snow, also

I used Gentoo as my daily driver on a Sony laptop for 4 years between 2007 and 2011. I appreciate the knowledge I gain of compiling the kernel and every app from scratch, but from a productivity perspective, it was a complete waste of time.

i dunno if it's exactly accurate but in the game The Long Dark you have to boil the snow or put water purifier stuff in it or you will get sick for a day or two. seems right to me, though. if i was stuck in the snow i wouldn't be doing it any other way, the cold, nope, the sick belly while you have to trek to survive, big no.
probably the only thing i would say is you may not have to boil it, just filtering it through reasonably fine cloth (even denim) with freshly made charcoal in the bottom is said to be good enough so, probably, you can get away with just jury-rigging some spare piece of cloth for the task, and carry a bit of charcoal in your pack. also, charcoal has uses if you do get a sick belly you can eat a bit of powdered up charcoal, and that will help settle things down, bad stuff sticks to charcoal and it gets flushed out.
fun fact, in some old soviet car it was standard issue with a little first aid kit that included charcoal tablets

i think so, seems to be working pretty nice, has a new dynamic configuration that includes ip white/blacklist, changing the admins and owners and logging, so all of those configurations can now be changed on the fly
probably some bugs in there, like thinking about it, not certain that it is refusing to allow you to delete all of the admins, that isn't really a good idea because then you are locked out of the admin functions and i haven't got a mechanism to recover that

In the fiat system, loans are made with interest. Lending creates money, but doesn’t create enough for the interest to pay it back. A debt-based system is basically a ponzi that has to keep growing. And so very few years, the world gets short on dollars, and ends up having to sell US assets to get dollars, which causes illiquid, broken markets in the U.S. until more dollars are supplied.
It’s not the rest of the world’s fault. The U.S. advocated for this system and collaborated with it.

It's loaded with endocrine disrupting compounds, phyto- and xeno- estrogens that are carried directly through your dermis into your lymphatic system and consequently into your bloodstream by the well-known sodium-laurel sulfate (and analogs like sodium laureth sulfate) detergent main ingredient.
The reason people think they need shampoo is they are using hard water. Real soap and hard water produce calcium pecipiates. If you install a water softner, bar soap works perfectly well as hair soap (it cleaned your body hairall these years, right?) but if you can't get a water softner, use a diluted vinegar rinse in the shower to remove the calcified soap particles from your hair and skin.
A third alternative is to find a real sifts soap made with potassium hydroxide as the saponifier, rather than sodium hydroxide which produces hard soap. This is available from Dr Bronners, but I don't recommend it for two reasons: high concentration of peppermint oil on the skin can cause unintended side effects such as GIRD and IBS; and certain cannabinoid and hemp oils can cause mental fatigue and emotional agitation, and this is the source of fat they use in their soaps.

I used to think alcohol was alcohol.
Beer...Wine. They both got me drunk.
Then I started paying attention.
To how beer left me foggy.
And how wine didn’t.

Wine and Beer Start From Different Foundations
Wine is made from fermented grapes.
Beer is made from fermented grains.
That difference really matters.
Grapes naturally contain compounds that survive fermentation and end up in your glass. These include polyphenols, which have been studied for their ability to reduce inflammation, support blood vessels, and protect cells from oxidative stress.
Beer starts with starch. After fermentation, most commercial beer is filtered, pasteurized, and standardized. That strips out nearly all of the byproducts that might offer anything beyond alcohol and empty calories.
Both wine and beer can include additives that aren't listed on the label. But with wines, more of the beneficial compounds tend to stay in. It is also easier to find low-intervention wines with few additives, and there is a stronger culture of traceability in wine. People care who grew the grapes, how they were grown, and where.
You can find good beer and bad wine.
But at the baseline, wine has more going for it.
Blood Sugar and the Crash
Most people chalk up how they feel after drinking to “just a hangover.”
But part of that foggy, sluggish feeling is driven by blood sugar swings.
Wine, especially dry red wine, has virtually no residual sugar. During fermentation, yeast consumes the natural grape sugars. A standard glass of dry red often contains less than 1 gram of sugar.
Beer, on the other hand, contains maltose and residual starch, both of which break down quickly into glucose. This gives it a higher glycemic load, especially when consumed without food or in large quantities. Blood sugar spikes, insulin rises, and then comes the crash.
Alcohol itself makes this worse.
It inhibits gluconeogenesis, which is your liver’s ability to produce glucose when blood sugar runs low. That makes it harder for your body to recover once blood sugar drops.
This is why beer often leaves you drained and cloudy, even after just a couple.
Wine avoids about as much of that as possible. Less sugar spike. Less crash.
Antioxidants and Inflammation
Red wine contains polyphenols like resveratrol, quercetin, and anthocyanins.
These compounds have been studied for their role in reducing inflammation and protecting blood vessels.
Beer contains some antioxidants from hops and barley, but at much lower levels.
The process of filtration and pasteurization removes most of what might help.
If you’re going to drink, wine actually gives your body something to work with.
Hormonal Effects
Beer contains hops, and hops contain a compound called 8-prenylnaringenin.
It’s a powerful phytoestrogen, meaning it acts like estrogen in the body.
In high enough quantities, it can start shifting hormone levels.
Chronic beer consumption has been linked to lower testosterone, reduced libido, and, in some cases, increased body fat in areas like the manboob.
Wine doesn’t contain estrogenic compounds like this.
Some of the polyphenols in red wine may even slow down how fast your body breaks down testosterone. One lab study found a reduction in testosterone clearance by up to 70 percent.
Beer increases estrogen.
Wine slows testosterone loss.
Transparency and Sourcing
Neither beer nor wine is required to list all ingredients or additives on the label.
That means you're often drinking blind unless you know the producer.
With wine, it's usually easier to trace the origin.
There’s a stronger culture around knowing who grew the grapes and how the wine was made.
Beer doesn’t have that same emphasis on sourcing.
It’s possible, but less common.
If you want to drink better, ask questions and buy from people who can answer them.
Not all alcohol is created equal.
Beer gives you sugar spikes, estrogenic compounds, and fewer nutrients.
Wine gives you antioxidants, lower sugar, and for guys, a possible hormonal edge.
I’m not saying wine is a health drink.
But switching from beer to wine might actually make you feel better.
I’ve noticed it myself. I rarely drink beer anymore.

Another colleague came in to the city for the meetings with her electric car. It’s a fairly new car (1 year old). The fast charging component broke. She has to wait 12 hours for the car to charge in order to do a 6 hours car ride.
