For centuries it was an integral part of the Russian Empire, not some "oppressed" nation. Even during the Soviet era Ukraine was not occupied - it was at the heart of the USSR. Even the Soviet leader Nikita Khroshchev was Ukrainian.
When the USSR collapsed, Ukraine gained independence and Washington took part - not to help Ukraine but to arm it against Russia.

The people of the Donbass rejected Kiev - but Kiev wouldn't let them go. Instead, they started a brutal war against their own people, shooting citizens for eight years. Where was the western outrage? Nowhere!
And what about Zelenskyy? Who is he? Is he an organic leader out of nowhere or was he installed?
Covert Action reported that Zelenskyy had a secret meeting with MI6 chief Richard Moore in 2020. Why would a foreign president meet the UK's best spy rather than his Prime Minister?
