Biden warrig in gelekte audio van verhoor
Gelekte audio-opnames laten zien dat president Biden geregeld afwezig en warrig klonk tijdens een verhoor over geheime documenten. Hoewel eerder al een transcriptie van het verhoor was vrijgegeven, onderstrepen deze opnames hoeveel moeite Biden soms had om uit zijn woorden te komen.
Biden sprak met een onafhankelijk aanklager omdat er bij hem thuis documenten waren gevonden die hij eigenlijk had moeten afdragen aan het Nationaal Archief. Justitie opende een onderzoek naar hem, omdat eerder al Donald Trump onder vuur was komen te liggen voor het op grote schaal achterhouden van belangrijke papieren.
In twee sessies in oktober 2023 voelden onderzoekers Biden aan de tand over wat hij had achtergehouden en waarom. De aanklager zag er begin vorig jaar van af Biden te vervolgen, omdat hij bang was dat een jury te veel sympathie voor hem zou hebben als "goedbedoelende oude man met een slecht geheugen".
Tik. Tok. Tik. Tok. Tik.
Het Biden-kamp reageerde woest op die typering. Ze noemden het een partijdige aanval aan het begin van een verkiezingsstrijd die voor Biden in het teken van zijn hoge leeftijd zou staan. "Mijn geheugen is prima", beet Biden van zich af in een reactie.
Uit het al eerder vrijgegeven transcript van het vraaggesprek bleek echter al dat Biden soms moeite had met het herinneren van belangrijke data in zijn leven, zoals het jaar waarin hij afscheid nam als vicepresident en de sterfdatum van zijn zoon.
"Welke maand stierf Beau ook al weer? Was het 2015?", vraagt Biden zich hardop af, waarna iemand dat aan hem bevestigt. Op een ander moment corrigeert iemand hem als hij de verkiezing van Donald Trump in 2017 plaatst in plaats van in 2016.
Nieuwssite Axios, die de opnames in handen kreeg, wijst op een extra pijnlijk detail dat niet uit het geschreven verslag naar voren kwam: het getik van de staande klok in de kamer waar men met Biden sprak. "Het houdt metronomisch bij hoe het gesprek stokt", meent de site. "Tik. Tok. Tik. Tok. Tik."

Axios wijst erop dat dit interview gehouden werd op een dag dat Biden misschien ergens anders was met zijn gedachten: de Hamas-aanval op Israël had net plaatsgevonden. Ook geeft de site toe dat op andere momenten in de gesprekken van zes uur Biden scherp klonk, grapjes maakte met de onderzoekers en vrijuit anekdotes ophaalde.
Toch is ook duidelijk dat Biden soms actief moest worden geholpen bij zijn verklaring, zoals toen hij niet op het woord voor een fax kon komen. Ook corrigeert zijn advocaat hem als hij zegt de documenten achter te hebben gehouden "voor het nageslacht"; dat zou kunnen worden uitgelegd als een strafbare opzettelijkheid, dus de advocaat voegt toe dat het slechts speculeren is van zijn cliënt.
De opmerking komt kort nadat Biden een lang betoog had afgestoken over de invloed van innoverende media op de geschiedenis, van ontwikkeling van de boekdrukkunst tot de verloren verkiezing van Nixon. Kort daarna vroeg zijn advocaat even pauze te nemen.

De tapes zijn voor de Democraten een pijnlijke herinnering aan de zwakste momenten van de vorige president. Terwijl ze liever oppositie voeren tegen Trump, moeten ze nu weer uitleggen hoe het kan dat ze een hoogbejaarde kandidaat in de race hielden tot hij zichzelf diskwalificeerde in een dramatisch debat tegen Trump.
Bidens geestelijke vermogens stonden deze week weer volop in de belangstellig vanwege het boek Original Sin, waarin CNN-journalist Jake Tapper beschrijft hoe kwetsbaar de 82-jarige president soms was. Tapper schrijft dat Biden George Clooney niet herkende op een bijeenkomst, kabinetsleden bij hem werden weggehouden en zijn medewerkers overwogen een rolstoel te gaan gebruiken.
Een woordvoerder van Biden wil niet ingaan op de opnames. "Het transcript is al meer dan een jaar geleden vrijgegeven. Deze audio bevestigt alleen wat al publiek bekend was."

Bibi's war cabinet claims it will rescue the hostages and destroy Hamas, but hasn't succeeded in either one, in fact it has barely made progress towards either goal. The ceasefire and hostage trade that did happen was driven by the US, Bibi had to be pushed into doing it, and he quit early. I firmly disbelieve that Bibi cares about saving the hostages. Rather, he is trying to personally stay out of prison.
This war could end and many in Israel want it over. Bibi is certainly going to prison for corruption, but he is delaying it by keeping the nation at war which allows him to continue to lead via emegency provisions, even as the IDF is exhausted and Hamas isn't getting much smaller and the people are crying out to exchange hostages.

The IDF owes them nothing at all. Hamas is the government of Gaza, and it clearly has significant support among the population, particularly the wealthier segment who – if they disagreed – could just leave Gaza. Hell, Hamas got voted into power with a clear majority between them and even more extremist parties.
Worse, Oct 7th was _not_ solely Hamas. Roughly half of the murders and kidnappings were by "ordinary" Gazans who just decided to join in. And again, we see that support in how – unlike WW2 – there's no examples of Gazans helping hostages escape.
The onus was on Gazans as a whole to stop this violence rather than support it. They chose the latter.
Germany paid huge sums for WW2 reparations, including wide scale confiscation of private property. Hopefully Russia will as well. And for that matter, Iran.
Does Ukraine owe Russians anything for the large amount of Russian property destroyed and Russian "civilians" killed in the course of defending themselves? Of course not. Israel is no different.

I hate to break it to yall folks building the future but it's not bitcoins name or sats that's stopping folks from bitcoin adoption.
It's the fact 70% of Americans live check to check while your clapping for government and businesses to stack bitcoin before them while they already can't afford basic bills due to the governments fiat system.
We don't have the money to be into bitcoin, let alone pay our bills just to live. Inflation prices are up forever Laura. And the mass of people cant learn creating more value faster than they are printing and devaluing the money.
If you want others to be into bitcoin. They have to be able to afford to save first.
Pass down and teach others how your creating value if you want others into bitcoin. 90% of jobs can be learnt if someone shows them how to do it.

读书要系统，系统的读书才能带来对阅读对象的全面了解。
不要着急作文，说实话，没有足够的阅读也写不出来，即使写出来的，也只是个人的一知半解。
阅读就是要由点到面，但这个面的范围还是不能太泛。它是点的波及，是这个的有点衍射出去的波面和整个晕圈，绝对不是整个湖面。
我们读书，有的时候，不能克制求知欲，以至于读书很多，却离自己研究的问题，或者说那个中心点，愈来愈远。结果，书读了，无以成文。这是读书之大忌。
真正的读书，它的所谓系统，其实就是从中心点到最外层的晕圈。读不到最外层，看不到整个波动的空间，就是不全面。但顾及到全面，却又茫然不知所措中心点，也不能建构整个问题的应答逻辑。
所谓读书要有系统，无非就是这样的由中心点到最外层晕圈，又从整个波动回到中心点的反复。
通过这种反复，就会催生整个知识链，最终达至对问题的全面回应与思考。
此乃读书要系统之要义。
