يشير بيانكو إلى أن حوالي 15% من مشتريات المستهلكين الأمريكيين هي بضائع مستوردة
إذا أصبحت هذه البضائع المستوردة أغلى بنسبة 3.6%، فإن ذلك يترجم إلى زيادة في التضخم الاستهلاكي (مؤشر أسعار المستهلك CPI) بنسبة 0.54%. ويضيف أن هذه الزيادة لن تتضح بشكل دقيق إلا بعد بضعة أشهر.
بيانات مؤشر التضخم

وول ستريت لا تفهم الوضع:
ينتقد بيانكو الأسواق الماليه لعدم استيعابها لتهديد ارتفاع الأسعار. فبدلاً من التركيز على التضخم "الثابت"، تستمر وول ستريت في التركيز على تباطؤ النمو الاقتصادي واحتمال ارتفاع البطالة، وتطالب بخفض أسعار الفائدة. يشير بيانكو إلى أن وول ستريت تحاول إلقاء اللوم على ارتفاع العوائد في عوامل أخرى مثل العجز المالي، بينما يرى أن التضخم الناتج عن التعريفات هو السبب الرئيسي.
