I know you could do like one-time signup "subscription" to get access to the mint, but is there any "natural" point in the ecash lifecycle where a mint could charge a small fee, for the sake of staying in business and providing a high level of service?
they can't make money the way a bank normally does, via unbacked credit expansion.

Looking at the way the establishment made a case that Ross Ulbricht (#FreeRoss) was the one who ordered a hit on what's his name, in a completely staged event, got me thinking. Dread Pirate Roberts could be passed around to different people. Similarly, my identity, my nsec, if compromised, could be used in an attempt to defame me (more than I already defame myself) or for other social engineering purposes if ever compromised. I was less careful with it than I am currently early on in nostr. Thus, secondary nostr identities actually become an excellent backup to help others falsify or at least raise suspicion as to the integrity of a compromised nsec. Social verification and other methods are also very useful as I have seen employed.
If this secret key ever starts posting weird shit, consult my alter ego at nostr:nprofile1qqs8cx6mg3u9st644nmwefk7449ph3f3mdhsev0k55xt59pktt2940sppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qyg8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnddakj7ltn70w. He will get to the bottom of it.

"Backed by Crypto" is a 🚩.
Unchained is better because you have some assurance against rehypothication, but the counterparty risk is too great vs. the reward in my opinion.
I can't see risking my sats, even with a reputable company like unchained for a loan with a double-digit interest rate.
I tool a 15k loan with a 10% interest rate backed by nothing to buy a new Air Conditioner.
Why risk 40k sats for a 15k loan with an 11% interest rate?
If it's because your credit sucks, realize that it sucks because you are more likely to get liquidated.

# Why a "Nostr Myspace" idea could work:
#### Potential Strengths:
* Nostalgia Factor: Myspace holds a powerful nostalgic appeal for a large demographic. Reintroducing it could generate immense buzz and draw in a massive user base.
* Viral Hook: The "Myspace is Back" announcement itself would be a viral sensation, instantly capturing the attention of millions.
* Developer-Friendly Base: Building on Nostr provides a strong foundation for developers to create innovative features and integrations, attracting a tech-savvy audience.
* Financial Incentive: The prospect of earning Bitcoin through content creation could significantly incentivize user engagement and content production.
* Decentralization Appeal: The underlying Nostr technology offers a compelling solution to concerns about data privacy and control, which resonate with many users.
#### Potential Challenges:
* Usability: Nostr can be complex for average users. A user-friendly "Myspace" client is crucial for mass adoption.
* Competition: The social media landscape is fiercely competitive. Overcoming established platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok will be a significant hurdle.
* Bitcoin Volatility: The extreme volatility of Bitcoin could deter mainstream adoption and create economic instability.
* Regulation: The evolving regulatory landscape surrounding cryptocurrencies could pose significant challenges to Bitcoin's widespread adoption and Nostr's development.
* Content Moderation: Decentralization presents challenges in moderating content and ensuring a safe and inclusive platform.
#### Overall:
While ambitious, your "Nostr Myspace" concept has the potential to disrupt the social media landscape. The combination of nostalgia, developer-friendliness, financial incentives, and decentralized technology could create a compelling alternative to existing platforms.
However, overcoming the challenges of usability, competition, and regulatory hurdles will be critical for long-term success.
Let's delve deeper into some of these challenges in our next conversation.
I'm eager to explore the potential roadblocks and discuss strategies to overcome them.

Well, so I opened a channel thinking it would be outbound/ inbound but I closed that one just fine.
Then I attempted to open one that I thought was inbound but it appeared it was outbound, so I forced closed it (in the hopes to close it faster).
Then I reopened a second channel that might have actually been inbound but I thought was outbound, and closed it but then I deleted the app, in the hopes to clear the queue, & reset everything, I recovered the seed, and it shows the 3rd channel as offline but doesn’t show the first two 😑.
So, yeah, I don’t know.

This is a huge advantage Bitcoin has over other assets and investments. Big banks and hedge funds can trade and adjust stock prices 24/7, but regular people only get 6.5 hours a day, (some after hours), 5 days a week excluding holidays…
Bitcoin takes that advantage away from big money.

Respectfully, I'm not here to do others' research for them or write a full-blown article on the subject. The information is widely available. A simple search for "ideological differences and similarities between far-right Republicans and Libertarians" will return comprehensive answers to this question.
I will, however, briefly speak to your point for "the room."
Here are some resources I recommend:
Libertarianism.org
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarianism
https://spreadgreatideas.org/contrasts/libertarian-vs-republican/
https://goodparty.org/blog/article/libertarianism-vs-republicanism-contrasting-paths-of-political-thought
To avoid overgeneralization, I suggest reading this first before continuing:
https://www.libertarianism.org/what-is-a-libertarian
"A Libertarian is committed to the principle that liberty is the most important political value. Liberty means being free to make your own choices about your own life, that what you do with your body and your property ought to be up to you. Other people must not forcibly interfere with your liberty, and you must not forcibly interfere with theirs."
A Critical Distinction: Far-right Republicans who claim to be libertarian often hold positions that directly contradict basic libertarian values. While libertarians view state power as the main threat to individual freedom, the far-right regularly supports using government force to impose their social and cultural preferences.
It is important to note that libertarianism originally emerged as a form of left-wing politics, including anti-authoritarian and anti-state socialist philosophies. Modern American libertarianism, which emphasizes free-market capitalism alongside personal liberties, represents a significant divergence from these origins. This historical context matters because it helps explain why libertarianism fundamentally differs from far-right authoritarianism, despite some surface-level agreements on economic issues.
This matters because it's not just about policy disagreements - it's about fundamental principles. Many far-right politicians have borrowed libertarian talking points while advocating for authoritarian policies, creating confusion about what libertarianism actually means.
Fundamental Ideological Conflicts:
1. Role of State Power:
- Far-Right Republicans: Support using government power to enforce traditional moral values and national security interests
- Libertarians: Oppose all government interference in personal choices, emphasizing individual rights over state authority
2. Individual Rights vs. Traditional Values:
- Far-Right Republicans: Support using government power to enforce specific moral and social positions (e.g., restrictions on marriage equality, gender expression/identity, drug use, abortion rights, religious expression)
- Libertarians: Oppose government interference in personal choices regardless of moral views - believe individuals should be free to make their own life decisions as long as they don't harm others' rights to do the same
3. Foreign Policy:
- Far-Right Republicans: Support strong military presence, increased defense spending, and interventionist foreign policy
- Libertarians: Advocate for non-interventionism and oppose warfare, militarism, and nationalism as extensions of state power. Support free trade between peoples but oppose military intervention except in cases of direct attack on the United States. View foreign intervention and military expansion as threats to liberty and peace
4. Immigration:
- Far-Right Republicans: Support strict border control and limited legal immigration
- Libertarians: Support free movement of people as an extension of individual liberty
Areas of Surface Agreement:
- Both groups often advocate for free markets and limited government, though their underlying reasons and desired implementations differ significantly
- Both typically oppose extensive federal regulation, though for different philosophical reasons
Final Note: Yes, there are Republicans who lean libertarian. But far-right positions - especially those calling for government force to impose traditional values or restrict individual rights - are incompatible with libertarian principles of personal freedom and opposition to state power.
P.S. The term "RINO" (Republican In Name Only) typically refers to moderate Republicans, not far-right Republicans or Libertarians.

#UnpopularOpinion
Nostr, offers true control over your digital life, But it's still mostly built by developers for developers with a few exceptions.
What if myspace came back but in a nostr client.
Most 25-40yr Olds will join.
Then thier kids will get jealous they don't have cool looking profiles with music online and they will join nostr too.
It's been 3yrs. The reserves went into place and were close to accepting bitcoin as money in the USA. Bitcoins at $10m.
People know posting a meme can earn them some bitcoin.
By now, most of America is on nostr.
Then it starts to trickle out to other countries...
It's now 2037.
All apps are built on nostr.
Bitcoin is accepted as money globally.
The people win and reclaim their digital freedom.
Maybe I'm just crazy... 🤷
